  1. Currently Decision Center only returns data for a location parameter if there was activity for the selected time period and does not return a zero placeholder for locations without activity. This creates extra work for staff when working with the resulting Excel files. They can't easily reference the cells in Excel consistently.

  2. Currently when NCIP items are returned via a sorter, SIP2 is not able to check them in. This results confusion for staff and patrons, as when staff check in the item it traps the hold once again. Currently, the only solution is to re-check out every item returned through a sorter to the patron, and then re-check it in via SDA, which adds to overall workload.

  3. We see the Sierra 6.0 Release Notes features new Accessibility improvements in the SDA. It is unclear if this includes a high contrast display option which staff recommend to support use of the software by many different types of staff.

  4. Currently, the bibs, holdings, and orders APIs do not return the expanded Locations fields for records with multi locations. The multi location value that is returned is useless without the expanded values.

  5. When a user is in the Cataloging workflow, the "Due Date" column in the "Item" view is sorted as a string instead of a date, eg "1-01-2023" comes before "9-01-2021". It would be helpful for this to be sorted as a date and match the sorting of the "Due Date" column in the "Holds" view.

  6. For libraries with floating collections, the location where an item was made "claimed returned" may not reflected in the item record. This is because the 3 options staff have when an item is "claimed returned" does not change the location of the item.

    Essentially the problem:
    An item is “checked out” at location A.
    The item is “claimed returned” at location B.
    The item location remains as location A.

    Staff have 3 choices when they make an item claimed returned:

    · 1. Places a claimed returned note in both the item and patron records

    · 2. (Optional) Removes the check-out…

Duplicate instances of a single item frequently appear on Bib Paging Lists resulting in confusion and either wasted paper (up to 7 pages were printed for a single item once) or wasted time deleting those lines before printing. There is no need for the paging list to alert us to multiple holds for any item, especially if we can't physically fulfill those holds.

  8. https://ideas.iii.com/forums/951745-ils-sierra/suggestions/46670854-sierra-5-5-direct-view-public-display-to-disco is closed/says it's already supported, but the part for being configured to more than one display option is not addressed. We would like to be able to have more than one option to display - Vega, Classic, Encore and even III Mobile if possible - so we can see how all iterations look right from the SDA. So in the menu it would be View | Public Display | array of choices

  9. Currently, when a patron is logged into their Encore account and they place a request, the system will default to their home library for the pickup location. If they want to pick up somewhere else, they have to manually choose that option from the dropdown menu.

    We want to keep the home library field limited to physical library locations, but allow for alternative pickup options that aren't specifically a home library (community pickup location, or hold lockers, etc). Right now, if you want to pick up somewhere other than your home library, you have to choose from a dropdown option.…

  10. Previous versions of Sierra (version 5 and below) allowed the saving of usernames and passwords in the Sierra desktop app login screen. Since upgrading to 6 this functionally has been lost.

  11. Customers want to know what titles they've checked out even if the library no longer has it. It would be ideal if Sierra (and subsequent discovery layers can pull the info) could save the title and author in the record metadata so that even if the bib record is deleted, the customer can see it.

  12. In the SDA OR Sierra Web, the Sierra 2-tier login workflow allows administrators to set a "time-out" setting to the 2nd tier (personalized) login. This setting determines if the session will time out or close after a specific amount of time.

    This is an excellent workflow except that there is no setting to manage 1st tier inactivity. This means at the end of the day we have many Sierra licenses that remain open and the Library must manually force close the desktop applications using the "restart a process" in Admin Corner.

  13. It would be very helpful to be able to print a Statement of Charges directly from a patron record (and have it formatted for 8-1/2 x 11 paper and mail-ready).

    For context, we are a 138-library consortium, all notices are Auto Notices, and we do not run Statement of Charges for the consortium. Yes, you can run a statement for 1 patron in the Notices function, but this requires consortium staff intervention since that permission is locked down to consortium staff.   15. We have a floating collection and use Decision Center to manage our collection. We need to know what is on the shelf OR not on the shelf at multiple sites. To do this, we use excel pivot tables to manipulate the "low circulation weeding reports". I have attached the workflow and the result.

  16. Prior to Sierra 6.0 and the introduction of MFT, it was possible to use FTP to transfer files though data exchange within Sierra. This is no longer possible as MFT is not supported in data exchange.
    Please add support for MFT in data exchange in the same way as support for MFT has been added in scheduler.

  17. Postpone/freeze a hold after it's Ready for Pickup
    Similar to Overdrive's redeliver option. Allow a patron to postpone/redeliver their hold one time if it comes in unexpectedly or at a time when they cannot come to pick it up.

  18. In circtrans and finespaid views (and maybe more views) there are several dates that are showing a value of 0 (which displays as 1969-12-31 due to UNIX date formatting).

    Dates do not have a value of 0, they can however, have a value of NULL, which is already how things work with other dates in the system, like the bib record cataloguingdategmt.

    This should be fixed for any dates in the system, not because anyone may or may not vote for it, but because it is both inaccurate and inconsistent.

  19. There are two things we would like to see in the Mark Damaged Items process. First we need a separate notice text for damaged items. We are trying to differentiate between lost and damaged and having to use the same notice text is problematic. Second, we'd like the status after the bill is paid to be Damaged & Paid (just like Lost & Paid) instead of just Damaged, as staff can't tell if this is an initial damaged status or one that has been paid for.   20. Problem: Many patrons have holds on titles in Quick Pick or Lucky Day collections. When they "get lucky" and check out one of these non-holdable copies their original hold remains in the queue and the patron often neglects to cancel their hold.

    Impact: Fulfilling these unnecessary holds wastes time for staff and patrons and delays trigging other patrons' holds as the item sits on the holdshelf until the expiration date. Collection budgets are also negatively impacted as these unnecessary holds can skew the item-to-holds ratio for high-demand items that selectors use to determine how many additional copies to purchase.
