At NYPL we have roughly 1.2 million patrons with a username (alternative id) value in their Sierra patron records. Username provides patrons with easy access to their accounts in lieu of having to remember or store their barcodes elsewhere.
As we finalize our transition away from our legacy WebPAC catalog, its critical that we have a means for patrons to create and use usernames for account access in Vega Discover.Antonio Sanabria supported this idea ·
This has become a critical issue for New York Public Library as well with so many patrons reporting they mistakenly identified LX emails as spam. With no option to unblock the email address, we are left with a terrible customer service experience in asking our patrons to generate additional email accounts to support getting notifications.
