  1. Create a sort by hold placement option. This would allow customers to view the list of holds based on their spot in the hold queue, which enable them to view titles are coming sooner and see what will likely come later.

  2. After testing a few call number searches, we are realizing that this feature would work best if there were an index for call number searching, to prevent erroneous results from appearing in the list. For example, if I want to search JUST Dewey call numbers of 300, I don't want to retrieve the movie with the title "300". Also, for our world language materials, we use call numbers to distinguish between Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese, and we are getting a lot of additional results with the keywords "Traditional" and "Chinese" in the bib. records. We want to be able…

  3. It's possible this could be resolved with the new VPAT update but I have had a number of patrons tell us that our catalog was broken because they didn't see the cookie notification in the footer. Something more obvious/eye-catching (see Worldcat) might be better.

  4. When a user clicks on the new Selection boxes for bulk holds, then clicks to the next page to view more search results, the selected titles do not persist. I would expect to be able to page through and add titles across all of the pages of the search before choosing to Place Holds.

If the selections are limited to a single page of the search results, there should be a warning or prompt when you click to a subsequent page that gives you the option to place your holds before losing them.

Ideally, your selections should be maintained across…

  5. Please add select boxes next to each title in grid view to allow users to use bulk holds while viewing search results in that view.

The "Select All" and "Place holds" options appear at the top of the search page in grid view, but there are no select boxes for individual titles. It would be great to have select boxes appear in grid view. If this can't be done, it would probably be better to not include the Select All and Place holds options in this view either since not being able to select individual titles makes this feel broken.

  6. When a specific branch has been selected, automatically show item information (location, call number etc.) beneath items located at the selected branch in search results so that no additional click is necessary to see call number, etc.

  7. I'd like to be able to limit search results to one branch's collection and limit search results available items in one branch's collection in just one or two obvious clicks.

  8. Right now, when you search something like Jane Eyre (see screenshot), which has multiple editions, some of which are part of a "series", Vega Discover arbitrarily displays one of those series statements in the roll-up. We would like it to NOT display the series info when it doesn't apply to all editions of a work, since the roll-up is supposed to reflect what all the editions have in common, not just one particular edition's series info. It could likely make the user think, incorrectly, that if they place a hold, they will get that edition in that series, when in…

  9. So far, the only way we have of distinguishing materials in the catalog for our Chinese speakers that are written in Traditional Chinese vs. Simplified Chinese is by their place of publication. Titles published in mainland China (008 position 15-17 is "cc") are different from titles published in Taiwan (008 position 15-17 is "ch"). We would like to see place of publication added as a facet for this reason.

  10. We would like to see a new format of "Graphic Novel" which would not roll up with other books that have the same title and author. It could use the fixed fields in the MARC record when the 008 is for books with a 6 in "Nature of contents" (positions 24-27). This would help prevent us from having to add our own manufactured subtitles just to get certain graphic novels to stop rolling up with the book version.

  11. In line with ideas about customizing the experience more to the patron, and adding more useful information to the lists feature, I would like if the messages like "you have one copy checked out" or "you have one copy on hold" appeared when patrons are looking at their own lists (like it does on resource pages, but without having to click into each one to see the status). It could also be tied to data from the reading history to say "borrowed once before," etc. This would help patrons who are researching a topic and bookmarking many potential resources, or…

  12. REQUEST:
Sierra Libraries can access Create Lists for creating Showcases.
Polaris Libraries can access Record Sets for creating Showcases.

    FEATURE DETAILS
Job Story: As a Showcase Admin, I can use existing bibliographic record lists from my ILS to create Showcases in Vega Discover.

    Acceptance Criteria:
Sierra Libraries can access Create Lists for creating Showcases. This will require utilizing the bibID links for linking to materials as Sierra does not have Rollups.
Polaris Libraries can access Record Sets for creating Showcases. This will require utilizing the bibID links for linking to materials as Polaris does not have Rollups.

  14. REQUEST: We use Polaris and our old catalog showed the number of renewals remaining/available for patrons. We've heard from patrons and staff that this would be appreciated versus the current view (number of renewals taken). Thanks for considering!

    FEATURE DETAILS
    Job Story
As a user, I see the number of renewals remaining from the My Bookshelf Checkouts tab.

    Acceptance Criteria
When looking at the Checkouts tab of My Bookshelf:
Replace "Renewed X times" with "X Renewals remaining"
Show the number of renewals remaining from Polaris
Add a translation string to the translation file for all languages.

  15. REQUEST: Note fields include useful information that is meant to be displayed to users. This information helps users decide if the resource described is relevant to their needs.
A subtitle that appears only on the cover of a book might only appear in a 500 note. A note might specify that a resource is a reprint of an earlier publication or give the original title of a translation, just to name a few examples.
Most notes are repeatable, so all instances of these MARC fields should display when there are multiple. Currently, only the first 505 (Contents note) and the…

  16. REQUEST: Use the same, logically chosen bibID for the display of all Work Level Metadata. (Note: this means rollup logic will be improved, and Vega will prefer the newest edition of physical formats of works rather than econtent records)

    FEATURE DETAILS:
    Job Story:
As a Vega Librarian I can expect that all metadata and enriched content displayed for a work is derived from the same edition as the cover image (based upon logic that prefers the newest edition of physical manifestations of works).

    Acceptance Criteria:
Link cover images in search results on click to FRC.

    FEATURE DETAILS:

    Job Stories:
As a Vega Admin, Main Site Admin, or Site Admin, I can choose the Order of Facets in sites I administrate.

    Acceptance Criteria:
The Facets Administration page in Vega Discover Staff UI is updated to allow for Admins to reorder the facets to a custom order.
A Facets Administration page is added to the Site Level, allowing sites to set their own priority for facet order and to decide which facets appear in…

  18. REQUEST: When you click on a subject heading that appears under "Topics" on a resource page to find other similar resources, it would be better for the results to display as a search results list so that you can further refine the list.
Staff often start with a particular title, then look for appropriate subjects to link to other relevant resources for a patron and they would like to be able to apply other filters (particularly Availability and Location but other facets would be useful too) to refine the list of resources.
Currently, when you click on a heading, you…
