  1. Some borrowers want to know how many holds are on the items they have checked out so that they know which items they won't be able to renew. It also helps the borrower decide which items they might want to finish first.

  2. We currently aren't able to use Vega to allow patrons to pay their fines. We'd like the option to remove the pay fine button as we've had many patrons querying why they can't pay their fine, as the button currently does nothing. If not possible we'd like to be able to link to our library website with information on how to pay fines in the account portal instead.

  3. When customers are in their account portal looking at holds, they want to see the total number of holds as well as where they are in the queue (i.e. 5 of 35 holds).

  4. The update to the account portal for City/State/Postalcode being text entry allows patrons to make these entries anything. These create new entries in the the Postalcode table, making it very messy (Made up cities/states/postcodes or incorrectly spelt, ect). These new entries then show from the drop down when patrons join online compounding the issue if new patrons choose the incorrect one. Example from our system using the State: NSW not the full text state New South Wales. Someone has created a New South Wales entry and other patrons have joined selecting it.

  5. Right now the default in bookmark lists is set to "Available" when it should be set to "All" as the default. Customers are confused as to where the rest of their bookmark list is and don't know they need to toggle to "All."

  6. In the showcases made from bookmark lists, we can select whether to show the list on the record pages. This feature is not available for showcases made from ILS Lists or Saved Searches.

Some showcases from ILS Lists and Saved Searches may not be beneficial to patrons viewing record pages, even though we may generate showcases to embed on a website or to view for ourselves.

Scenario 1: ILS List that compiles Bib records that the image covers do not display correctly. This showcase would help our staff and support ticket responder(s) see whether the applied changes are working as…

  7. We need the ability to hide certain fields in the account portal that we don't have. For instance, we only want one phone number in the account, but we cannot get rid of the second field for phone numbers even though we don't allow updating those fields. Also, since the address is not mapping correctly in our displayed address fields, we would like to hide this so customers are not confused.

  8. We have complaints about the Account View in the Account portal showing patron personal info at the top of the screen that cannot be minimized. Customers who login to place holds in the library using our catalog kiosks are particularly upset by this data displaying. It really pertains to anyone who would like privacy on their screen while using Vega. Please put the personal information for the patron behind an edit or view action or tab. The information is so large it is easily seen by anyone walking by. This is big for us for patron privacy.

  9. We would like the ability to combine and pay fines for linked accounts. That was a selling point for setting this up. A parent could pay all the fines for all of the children’s/partner’s accounts to pay by credit card. Since we require a $5 minimum, this would be super helpful for fines for account A with $1.50 and account B with $3.50 – combining would get them over that threshold.

Currently, if you try to pay fines for more than one of your accounts, you get a message, "Fines can only be paid for one account at a time…

  10. Make the two large purple icons, not just the text below them, link to their sections. Especially on mobile, this would be more user friendly. I find myself expecting them to be buttons. Some patrons may have to zoom in to accurately tap the text links.

It could be the icons or even the entire rectangular boxes and everything in them.

  11. Patrons have expressed concern that the password reset page doesn’t resemble an MCPL page. One of them called to make sure they weren't being scammed. We have patrons of all levels of tech-savviness using our catalog. We'd love to be able to customize the look of this page or at least add our logo so that patrons aren't confused by the different look, feel, and URL of the password reset page.

  12. Hello,
Vega Discover administrators need a way to identify the software version.
Why? I find that the upgrade schedule is not always accurate. We are in North America and the upgrade can be delayed by a day, or happens during the middle of the expected day. It would be helpful to have a version stamp somewhere on the site or admin site to help administrators know when they can begin testing the new features.

  13. We would love to have the ability to only show items that are available to check out in our showcases. This way, we could create long lists of items that don't remain static in their appearance, but instead show patrons different items based on what they could take home today. Seeing only the same 6 items on the front page every day gets old fast.

  14. We are a special case, with more than 2000 admins. When we need to manage them in Vega staff > Settings > User management we would like to have some kind of sorting by name, or a search box which makes us easier to retrieve the person we are looking for. It would save us a lot of time.

  16. We would like there to be an option to hide the request any edition button, so that patrons would always have to pick a specific edition. We do very little weeding of older editions and have a large collection of early printed books which can be mixed in with regular open access copies, so depending on the holds ratio patrons could get served up a much older edition of a book than is useful for them if they use the more prominent "Request any edition" button.

  18. Some suggestions for the citation export in Vega:
    1. RIS export only - Repeats the first AU field in A1. Solution: Remove A1 field from RIS, or first AU field if always identical to A1
    2. RIS export and in-Vega citation - Edition (ET) includes all MARC 250 subfields when only subfield a (Edition statement) is necessary. Solution: Ideally just take first word of 250 $a, less ideally take all of 250 $a only. (Note: Endnote auto-generates the rest based on citation style e.g. takes first word "Eighth" and auto-generates following word: edition, ed., etc.)
    3. RIS export and in-Vega…

  19. Some patrons have reported they would like more options for the "results per page" when searching -- specifically, an option for 100. The PAC gave options up to 100, but Vega Discover only gives options up to 40 per page.

  20. I'm trying to make an Accessibility Site/Catalog that focuses on our materials such as large print, braille, and audio. However, you can only use location/shelf location or collection type to as scoping parameters.

It would be lovely to be able to expand the scope to include subject headings, material types, genres, etc.
