  1. Currently, item condition information is put in the Free Text Block. However, that information can be overwritten (and lost) if the item becomes part of a record set that is universally updated. As it's important to know item condition issues, it would be great if the Physical Condition block could be a pop-up when it includes information.

  2. I use aural cues to confirm that something has happened in LEAP. It would be nice to have a beep of some sort when there is a pop-up that staff need to be aware of.

  3. QZ Direct to Print has helped streamline slip printing in Leap but one annoying dialog we didn't have to deal with in the staff client remains. During an RFID operation, if Leap is asked to print a receipt, RFID processing is paused (suspended) to allow the receipt to be printed. A pop up message appears to allow the user to continue RFID processing of any remaining items once the receipt is printed. There is currently no way to suppress this message.

  4. Please consider adding a GET PAPI method to retrieve the picklist. While it’s usually convenient to obtain the picklist from the client/Leap, having a direct API option would enable custom workflows and more flexibility for libraries.

  5. In larger consortia, it's very impractical to have granular patron codes per library or branch. Our resident patron codes are shared by all the libraries, but this creates some problems for certain materials that libraries can't reasonably share. The Preferred Borrower hold limit can help with this, but it puts the control of circulating restricted materials on the staff. If a Preferred Borrower setting could apply to checkout of certain materials the way holds can be limited with Preferred Borrower settings, staff would not have to struggle with overrides or demanding patrons from the next town over.

  6. A patron said that it would be useful if they could see, as a logged-in patron, holds that had been cancelled due to them not coming to pick them up in time. It would be great if this also allowed patrons to reactivate the hold from there. Thank you for considering this.

  7. We would like the option to link invoices together in Leap like we can in the client. We use this feature to keep track of credit memos by linking the credit memo to the original invoice.

  8. There are already some other ideas/requests for additional Hold Slip configurations and, while I fully support any additional receipt configuration, they're scope is pretty broad. Meanwhile, this is a pretty specific idea/request that I would hope could be implemented easily. The subject pretty much says it all, but we would like the ability to append the Hold Pickup Slip to the Hold Slip. Currently, it is only possible to append the Hold Pickup Slip to the Hold Call Slip (not a particularly distinct name...) which prints ALL of the patron's available holds. This can result in some VERY long receipts…

  9. Currently, the Find Tool in the client allows us to adjust the search timeout period. We would also like to be able to adjust this setting when searching in Leap.

For example, recently I wanted to put together a record set of items with subject heading "bicycles" (about 500 titles in total). This search took about 45 seconds to run in the Find tool, so I was not able to make the record set in Leap - I had to run the query in the client. As we move towards using Leap exclusively, this is a gap that would need…

  10. Patrons are confused by items that don't autorenew. The receipt lists the items out, the due dates, and the "potential" renewals. But if an item doesn't autorenew the patron doesn't realize it. It's causing patrons to accrue fines because they assume their items have autorenewed. It would be lovely if the email could list items that were autorenewed, items that were NOT autorenewed, then other items checked out.

  11. We would like to be able to control whether or not a given field is required on registration based on the patron code selected. For example, we have a "No Permanent Address" patron code where ideally, address would not be required when that is selected. Or, we use one of our User Defined Fields for Parent/Guardian Information, which we would love to make required when a patron code indicating a minor is selected.

  12. We would like Polaris Leap to generate a default password/PIN for new patron records that can be turned on or off. We would prefer if one of the options for default passwords/PINs be 6-digit birthdate MMDDYY. Patrons can update their password/PIN in Vega if they want to. It would also be great if resetting the password/PIN resets it to the default.

  13. I am writing to request an enhancement for the Leap Acquisitions module. Currently, the system does not allow users to copy fund allocation numbers.

When adjusting funds, the Encumbrance and Expenditure Fund Balance Limits often do not update automatically. This requires me to manually re-type the "Total Allocated" amount into six different limit fields. Manually entering the same 6-digit or 7-digit numbers multiple times is not only time-consuming but also creates a significant opportunity for manual entry errors.

Could you please update the system to allow copying from the "Total Allocated" line and pasting into the limit fields? This small…

  14. In Leap, the parent/child item relationship is currently limited and does not support full navigation or management between linked records. To support a complete workflow in Leap, the following enhancements are needed:

    1. Add the ability to link from a parent item record to its associated child item record (currently, linking is only possible from child to parent).
    2. Add the ability to create a child item directly from an existing item record.

These features are essential for fully managing parent/child item relationships within Leap.

  15. We have recently been coming up against an error when adding additional notes to the Non-blocking notes field. There is a current character limit of 4,000 characters that's not noted anywhere I could find on the help section. Can this character limit be updated, as there are many instances where notes need to be kept for historical purposes?

  16. Allow for a pop-up when paying for an outside library's item, e.g. 'this is not your library's item, would you like to pay for it' hit continue or cancel, similar to when you're trying to scan a requested item that is meant for another patron. There have been times when a patron comes to pay for another library's item in cash, and unless the staff member checks to make sure that it's only overdue fees or fees that pertains to their particular library, they keep that outside library's payment. They then have to reimburse the item-owning library or the item-owning…

  17. It can be confusing when staff look at the history for an item and it says it was Checked in/Available and then it shows it as Withdrawn. This happens when we are preparing bills and we need to withdraw an item with the Circulation Status of Lost/Damaged/Replacement cost before we can bill the other library. It would be nice to open the Item Record for the specific item and declare it Withdrawn. I would suggest that a BIG RED BOX pop up and say "YOU ARE GETTING READY TO DECLARE THIS ITEM WITHDRAWN. IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO?" …

  18. Offer the ability to bulk update Serials issue records to a new status. We order multiple copies of most serials, and currently we have to open each issue to change it from "Claimed" or "Pending Claim" to "Not Available" when the vendor cannot supply it.

  19. We are having manually placed orders rejected because the 020 field for large print books sometimes exceeds the 50 character limit. Polaris/Leap will accept 020 fields that are up to 49 characters, but not for OCLC MARC records that have extended to 54 characters. This happens whether we are attaching to an existing record in Polaris/Leap or for a new one imported from OCLC/Connexion. It seems completely arbitrary that 49 characters are accepted, but 54 characters -- just a few over the limit -- are not. Thanks for looking into & considering this request.
