  1. If a patron wants an 'all items checked out list', we don't then need a current item printout upon closing their account. In fact, it would be nice to have to choose to make a receipt at all.

Currently Polaris prints out two different receipts - the all items (if chosen), and today's transaction

  2. It would be very helpful to have an "undo" button for more functions in Leap. Particularly for when you accidentally check something in/out.

  3. There is currently just one permission (Patron status: Display reader services) that controls access to both the Reader Services and Reading History tab in a patron account in Leap. This should be split into separate permissions so that staff can be granted access to Reader Services without having access to Reading History.

Our consortium policies don't allow library staff to have access to patron Reading History, so while we would love to offer the Reader Services functionality to staff, we can't do that currently without granting them access to patron Reading History. The only theoretical workaround is setting up distinct…

  4. We have experienced problems with bulk edits to item records when adding a range of barcodes. If one of the item records is open or already has a barcode, the correct barcode will not apply, but LEAP will continue applying barcodes to the rest of the list, which are all now added to the wrong item record. Ideally, could the process be updated so that barcodes will apply correctly starting with the next barcode and the next item record, skipping the open or otherwise uneditable item record AND the barcode it should be assigned? If not, we need an error…

  5. Periodically we might need to update a large number of records. Like changing 10,000 item records to not display in PAC. When we have done that during the library hours it negatively impacts response time. What would be desired would be an option to schedule the update for after hours.

  6. The Leap Picklist has the option to filter the results by collection and other values to limit the display to a manageable number. However when you interact with one of the results such as marking it as Located, you lose the filtering. The desired improvement would be to maintain the filter as actions are taken until you clear the filter.

  7. Requested Change:
We would like to be able to configure Leap to match the Polaris Desktop Client's login behavior with regard to session branch selection. We would like it to default to the workstation's branch.

    Desktop Client:
When logging into the Polaris Desktop Client, the "Please select a branch for this session" dialog dropdown menu defaults to the Workstation's branch.

    Leap:
When logging into Leap, the "Select your Branch and Workstation" branch dropdown defaults to the User's assigned branch.

    Why:
At our organization, most staff are transacting in Leap on a desktop computer that is installed at a particular location.…

  8. At times we have unclaimed items that the patron actually already picked up. It would be great if we could checkout out these items in "unclaimed" status directly from the patron's holds page on their account. This would be easier and less opportunity for error.

  9. When PatronRegistrationCreate is configured to allow creation of new postal code entries, the API should consider an explicitly supplied COUNTY when determining whether an existing postal code record is an appropriate match.

Currently, if a ZIP code, city, and state already exist in the PostalCodes table, the API will reuse that record even when the COUNTY supplied in the registration request is different.

If a county is explicitly supplied, the matching process should require the county to match in addition to ZIP code, city, and state. If no EXACT combination exists, the system should create a new postal code record…

  10. In the staff client, it's possible to delete a staff user account in system administration and the account will no longer show up linked from associated records or in search results. In the Web version of System Administration (as of at least 8.0), deleted staff users continue to show up, but the username is appended with "(Deleted)." User accounts in Web SysAd can be sorted based on whether they are Enabled or not, but the search and filtering options don't allow for filtering out Deleted staff from searches. We have been on Polaris since 1998, so our Deleted staff far…

  11. Can development add a navigation option when someone has an item workform open on the All Items tab of the bibliographic workform to allow moving between item workforms without needing to close and manually open the next item?
One of the sticking points for technical services staff to adopt Leap is not being able to quickly navigate between item workforms to update barcodes while cataloging. In the desktop client, staff are able to use the View navigation options. Our current guidance is to use Bulk Change if the same revision needs to be made to multiple items or to use…

  12. For floating collections items, enable LEAP to check the load limit and send away the item if the limit has been reached when checking in ANY floating collections item at ANY floating-enabled branch, even when the item in question is currently assigned to the branch where the item is being checked in. Not doing this for items being checked in at their currently assigned location leads to the need for manual rebalancing to keep collections from overflowing at a particular location. The load limits and automatic rebalancing should work for all floating item and location combos.

  13. It would be useful to have a "Mark Item Missing" selection available in the "Actions" menu for Item Records. Not only would this be more convenient for staff who are unable to locate an Item that was not on the Picklist than navigating to the Details page and manually changing the status there, but hopefully this could be implemented in such a way that staff don't need the Item Records - Modify Header - Cataloging permission just to mark an Item Missing.

  14. It would be nice to be able to add an image to a MARC record in Polaris that will show up in the PAC. We once used Verso as our ILS and they had the option to add image paths using 856 electronic and access field. Images often do not accompany records (particularly with DVDs) and our front page content carousel ends up looking sparse and ugly due to lack of images.

  16. When adding barcodes in bulk, there is an option for "use system assigned barcodes." Our barcodes are 13 digits; CODABAR, with start-stop codes, and a check digit. This is not currently supported, and I would like to have that option so staff don't need to scan each barcode individually. It's really frustrating to not be able to use one of the features we were excited about.

  17. We would like the ability to set one number of days for an item to remain held if other holds are attached to the same bib record and a second setting to set a number of days for an item to remain held if no holds are attached. This would allow high-demand items with waiting lists to move more quickly through patrons, while at the same time keep low-demand items on hold shelves for longer, increasing the rate at which they get picked up and borrowed.

Right now, we hold items for 7 days. For a popular title, that adds…

  18. When you open a bib or item record, the header takes up about half the screen (with a slider bar if the record is long). For staff going in to edit the item details tab or the bib MARC tab, they no longer need to keep seeing all the header info. It would be useful if the field with the editable data were in a horizontal split screen or divide that could be slid up to minimize the header and expand the editable space.

  19. In some cases, we would like to monitor the items we have ordered. If these items can be loaded into an Item Record Set, it would make them easier to access and track.

In Polaris, users can add items from a released Purchase Order (PO) to an Item Record Set.

Is there a similar function available in LEAP?
