Improve Receipt Printing from Leap
Currently printing receipts from the Leap web app is unideal, requiring either significant manual intervention from the user or extensive browser tweaks to get it operable. A background desktop client (similar to JSPrintManager) could handle the printing far better than the browser does natively.

Improvements to 7.4 Item Language Field
Currently, the new 7.4 item language field is using the same Languages table used in patron registration. For patron records, the language preference field displays in their account in PowerPAC. Patrons use this field to select their preferred notification language.
If a library wants to add a new language to the Languages table, it will be added as an option for both item records and patron accounts. This is problematic, because many libraries purchase materials in far more languages than they offer notices in. If a library adds additional language options to this table, they risk that patrons will select…

Dated patron notes
It would be very useful for patron notes to automatically include date and time - this would allow us to track "updates" to progressive situations with patrons that multiple staff are addressing.

Add ability to enter a reason when cancelling a hold
Currently, patrons receive a default email message when their hold is cancelled. It would be great for staff to have the ability to enter a reason or write a brief message letting the patron know why their hold was cancelled.

Improve Leap Offline by not relying on saved data in the browser cache
Some libraries use tools like Deep Freeze (that discard any changes to previous work sessions) or manage settings so that browser caches are cleared when closed or when the user logs out. Since Leap Offline stores data transactions in the browser cache, anything that is not uploaded to the database will be lost in such occurrences.

View recent search history in Leap find tool
It would be great to have an option to go back and view recent search history or search results in the find tool in Leap. I often close out of a search too soon and realize I need to go back for more information, or realize that I actually had the results I needed two searches ago.
Being able to quickly view recent search results rather than constructing the whole search again would save a lot of time.52 votes -
Utilities - Reports and Notices in the staff client need to be available in Leap
We have a number of custom reports in the Polaris Staff Client that need to be accessible to our Circulation Staff in Leap. Ideally all Polaris canned reports should also be available to all staff in Leap. One custom report we use is for patrons who don't have an email address. Their notification option is set to mailing address. However, if they have a hold we call them instead of sending the hold notice by mail. The custom report is a quick way to find the patrons that we need to call. Staff have to have access to both Polaris…
16 votesJust to set expectations, our strategy at this time is for users to access reports through the SSRS portal. As Eleanor mentioned in her comment, we are adding customizable menu options to Leap in 7.5 with the intent that they be used to link users to the reporting interface.

Update the "canned reports" in Reports -> Notices and SSRS
There are multiple reports in the "canned reports" available through the Staff Client and through SSRS that deliver incomplete and/or absolutely wrong data.
For instance, the Patron Register report only looks at extant patrons in the Polaris database right now. That means that, if a library had a patron purge, those patrons are gone. If one runs a Patron Register report after the purge for a time before the purge, the registration numbers will absolutely be wrong. This would also be true where patron merges or general cleanups have taken place.
Another report, Circulation by Postal Code has a logic…

Enable floating limits for collection and material type simultaneously
As a multi-branch system that floats some of our collections, we desperately need a way to set limits on the number of copies on shelf without giving up our ability to set limits on overall floating collection size. Currently in Polaris you must choose one limit or the other. Being able to spread copies throughout our system makes them more available for discovery and increases circulation.

Add Item Template Drop-Down Menu to POLI
Not all vendors provide 970 fields in on order records. Some frequently used vendors, like Amazon do not provide on order records. When releasing a PO, Polaris frequently uses the wrong item template to create the item record. This is a common occurrence for libraries that have many item templates for each collection and material type combination. Staff frequently need to create the on order bibliographic record for material types like videogames because the bibliographic record doesn't exist when the PO is made. When the wrong item template is used, it causes acquisitions staff to have to manually correct the…

Multiple Holds
We'd like to have a way to place multiple holds at once. The existing multiple holds option doesn't quite do that as it still requires re-entering the title and selecting it for each copy needed while in the holds area of an account. For a book club, for example, it would be much faster and easier to select a title to hold and have a way to say we want 15 copies from this bib record, rather than have to select it title 15 times.

Password Reset PAPI Call
Currently we have to send patrons from our websites to the PAC if they need to reset their passwords. It would be great if there was an API call for this, as it's disruptive to the patron experience to have to send them to another site.
The suggested functionality would reflect the PAC experience: once they enter a barcode, a password reset email would be sent to the email address on the account.

Add visual customizations to Leap
The Polaris Leap login screen consists of two text fields, a button, and a low resolution PNG floating upon an ocean of #CCCCCC. It is, in a word, boring. There are no easy customization options offered that allow a library to give it the look and feel that they want, save for one option that will change the colour of the menu bar. Now, granted, if you have a staff member with some web coding knowledge, they can modify the Leap CSS and replace some images to give things a spruce up. Five lines of code and a fresh image…

Not-Supplied status for Holds - change back to on hold if item becomes avaliable
When an item hold has the status of Not-Supplied, if this item then becomes available eg if a a lost item is returned, the not-supplied status doesn't automatically retrigger the hold.
Currently you have to go in and manually reactive the hold.39 votes -
Full support for emoji in Polaris Label Manager
Many libraries like to call attention to their genre fiction through the use of spine label stickers and icons. For instance, science fiction items may feature an image of a grey alien, mysteries have a magnifying glass or a skull and crossbones, and westerns use a cowboy or a horse or something similar. The thing is, there's no reason a library couldn't print the icons on the spine labels themselves using emoji.
👽 = Science Fiction
🐴 = Western
💀 = Mystery
🦄 = Fantasy
🏰 = Historical Fiction
And so on. However, the Polaris Label Manager barely supports any…

Improve sort and printing options for Picklist Processing
Picklist is great - unless you are a large location that needs to distribute the list among several staff and do not have devices for everyone. Currently in staff client, we can sort multiple columns - example, by Collection then by call number within collection, then hide unwanted columns, print and distribute pages among multiple staff. You can only sort 1x in Leap and then there is a lot of white space, etc. which results in paper waste. It would be great to have the ability to fine sort, hide columns and headers when printing Picklist. Without that, staff will…

Change Login Branch in Leap (without signing-out)
Currently if we need to change the branch we're logged into in Leap we need to sign-out and log back in. This can be disruptive if we have records opening we're working with that would then need to be re-opened. It would be handy if there was a way to do this without signing-out and back in, in a way that would allow records to remain open.
Admittedly I don't think this would be helpful for the majority of staff, likely more administrative roles that need to perform activity across a range of branches. But it would be a nice…

Make LEAP More VPAT Accessible!
Making LEAP more accessible and usable for everyone is key to system-wide adoption. I know LEAP can be finicky when display and text scaling and zoom levels are beyond 100%. But improving support for larger text would be a game-changer for many! I have a couple suggestions that I think could make a big difference:
Support zoom and text resize beyond 100% throughout LEAP, especially with the Find Tool, so users with vision needs can actually read the text. This small enhancement would be huge!
Perform a VPAT and implement recommendations. This will uncover ways to improve overall accessibility per…

More match point for POLIs with on-order item templates
We would like the ability to match POLIs with on-order item templates on more data points, specifically shelf location, statistical code, and call number prefix. I expect that this means there would need to be extra fields to enter the POLI, and that would work out fine if that enabled the item records to be created accurately.
Our libraries use different shelf locations, statistical codes, and call number prefixes for items within the same collection. When placing an order, items are created from the on-order item templates, and only match on 3 data points: assigned branch, collection, and material type.…

Save collection and fund when adding segments to purchase order line items in Leap
Currently, when adding segments to a purchase order line item in Leap, the collection and fund reset whenever a new destination is selected. Since we are frequently adding multiple segments with the same collection and fund but different destinations, this forces acquisitions staff to have to scroll down and select the correct collection and fund for each segment. If the first selection of collection and fund "stuck" for each purchase order line item, it would be much faster to add multiple segments for items going to different destinations.
