  1. Currently, our patrons can still place holds when their card is expired and then come in to get their hold and don't realize they need to verify their address so we can renew their card. Blocking patrons from placing holds until their card has been renewed and giving them a pop-up explaining that their card has expired, would be great.

  2. It'd be nice if fines could be ineligible for being waived by staff from any library other than the owning library. In our consortia staff can waive any fine regardless of how much it is and what library it's from, this also goes for lost and damaged items on a patron's card. This can lead to staff just waiving fines that they shouldn't be waiving, or accidentally paying out lost/damaged items for another library, which we aren't supposed to do.   3. Incorrect email addresses and phone numbers in patron records cause hold and overdue notices to fail. This results in a negative patron experience and requires wasted staff time for troubleshooting and manual data correction. Polaris should behave like other systems and verify contact information before using it.

    When an email address is entered into a record, the system will send a message with a verification link. After the patron clicks the link, the email's status in the ILS will change from "Unverified" to "Verified". A visual indicator will show the verified status to both staff and patrons.

  4. This proposal outlines an extension to the Patron Validation API to include an optional serviceName parameter. When provided, this value will be recorded in the Integrated Library System (ILS) transaction log, allowing us to track which service initiates each patron validation request.

    Currently, the ILS transaction log records patron validations without capturing which service initiated the request. This lack of context makes it difficult to analyze traffic from third-party services (e.g., OverDrive, Hoopla) or internal applications, troubleshoot validation spikes, and make informed decisions about service contracts and resource allocation.

  5. When declaring an item lost on a customer account, there is no way to add more to the note on the resulting lost item charge. All that is in the note field is "Declared Lost". It is sometimes important to give more context to the charge and that is why being able to add a note would help!

  6. At this time, holds on the serials and multivolume set records are not functioning in an efficient manner when the title is not under serial control. Examples include manga, college guides, or test prep guides. In PowerPAC and Leap, patrons and staff cannot place volume level holds when the associated item is on order and does not have a barcode. It is not part of the staff's normal workflow to add a barcode to on-order items until the physical item arrives at the library.   7. Sometimes staff select the the wrong payment method in Polaris when taking apply a payment from a customer (cash/check/CC). Once selected, inaccurate payment methods cannot be corrected in Polaris.

    While leads spot and notate these errors on Polaris cash reports, our system-wide Finance dept uses these reports to reconcile our credit card statements each month. It happens often enough and across so many branches that it creates a lot of extra work on the back end to reconcile our credit card account.   8. One impediment for our processing staff in moving to Leap is the lack of the ability to quickly copy a line item in Leap (here's the process in the client: https://documentation.iii.com/polaris/7.6/#PolarisStaffHelp/Acquisitions/PAorder/Copy_a_purchase_order_line_item.htm)

    The same process in Leap involves several more steps:
    1.Go back to the PO
    2. click new line item
    3.fill out line item details
    4. click on segments
    5. click new segment
    6. fill out Collection Code and Fund

    A quicker way to get through a PO would be if we could add the same segment to all of the line items at once, e.g click the check…

  9. I polaris both account expiration and adress check dated had an option of just adding 1 year (or other period you choose) to a current date. In Leap only adress chech still has that option and account expiration date is pure manual, which takes longer to set each time. It would be nice to have that line of adding a chosen period to the current date back there.

  10. Whenever there are menus like "Yes", "no", "cancel", it would be nice to use arrows and enter buttons on a keyboard and not a mouse. Right now arrows don't work.

  11. For SHRs and Authorities, if you have read-only access to those records and try to view them, you get an override pop-up. This is happening because it is attempting to open those records in Write mode. To VIEW the record, you have to hit cancel, which is confusing for staff.

    For Bib records, it does not work this way. For bib records, you can view them and then if you don't have permission to write or modify them, you get the pop-up when you attempt to save the record.

  12. Currently, the quick search bar does not do allow ISBN searching. It would be helpful to be able to scan an ISBN in the quick search bar and have the bib record pop-up, like what happens with item records when a barcode is scanned.

  13. In my staff duties, I am often putting a hold on an item that will be moved to in-repair for re-cataloging. Currently, I have to place a hold with my staff card and, when the item is held, I must check it in before I can change the status to in-repair. There are even more steps when the item is assigned to a different branch and wants to automatically transfer on check-in. Then I have to change the assigned branch as well.

  14. In our system of 33 branch locations, we often receive system-wide email requests to complete checks of the stacks for items customers claim to have returned but that are still on their accounts.

    It would be helpful if Item Records had an additional "Action" option that allowed staff to select "Request Shelf Check". The item would then populate on every branch's picklist with a unique icon next to it, and there would be a checkbox at the top of the list, similar to "INN-Reach Only", that would allow staff to narrow the list to what was shelf check requested by…

  15. There are SOO many features and so much functionality in Leap, but sometimes it is hard to find them.

    Today, I was looking for the Patron Import feature in Leap 7.8, I couldn't find it. Turns out it is under Background Processing.

    This request to add a Feature Search to Polaris that is present across several websites and applications that allow you to search by typing part or all of a feature name and allows to you find that without having to dig through a bunch of Menus.

  17. My library is on Leap 7.6 and we have a problem when our staff is setting up new registrations. The “Save” button is right next to the “Cancel” button and when you accidently hit cancel there is no “Are you sure” pop up or something similar. We would love for this to be fixed! We've had to redo way to many patron accounts!

  18. Now that in Leap we can compare bib records side by side, it would be very helpful to be able to compare record sets side by side. Right now I'm exporting contents and comparing in Excel/Google Sheets, and then sometimes importing the results into a new record set. I'd love to be able to see two record sets next to each other and edit as needed directly in Leap. Apologies if this idea has already been submitted. Thanks!

  19. When some notice types are posted, they show up in the item record history. But not all notices show up there, for example, printed hold notices do not show up there. It is also difficult, for example, if you want to find out who printed a fine notice to be able to locate that information because it isn't always tied to an item record.

  20. Information about which 3M SIP port that is tied to each branch is only available if you have SQL. This request is to allow that port to be viewed in Sys Admin. Even if it was just part of a a branch's properties that would be fine.

    It could also be in a table view format (like Fine Codes, etc.) but it would just be nice to see that information somewhere outside of SQL.
