Not wanted before date option instead of Freezing holds
Would love to be able to put a hold on an item and enter a date when you want that hold to activate instead of freezing the holds. Sometimes when placing a hold and you're the only hold, it won't let you freeze the hold. Having a date for the hold to activate would be more ideal.
5 votesHold Activation Date (Polaris Libraries Only)
A Hold Activation Date setting has been added for Polaris Libraries only. This setting can be found in the Staff UI Settings under the Cog Menu > Library Defaults > Patron Settings: Allow hold activation date. When this setting is on, patrons in Polaris Libraries will have an option to select a "I don't need this item before" date in the hold placing workflow. The default activation date is today's date. When a date in the future is set by the patron when placing a hold, the hold will appear in the patron's hold list in Frozen state until the activation date has been reached.
Note: Hold Activation Dates are not supported by the Sierra APIs at this time so this setting cannot be enabled for Sierra libraries.

Location filter needs to be alphabetical
Instead of having the location filter list location by number of available copies, please change to alphabetical order, so customers can more easily find the location they want in the same place every time.

Suppress bib records with no available items
I have been cleaning up holds, and found a lot that have the "Display in PAC" box checked in the bib record because at one time that was a record that had items attached. Now the items are all withdrawn, missing, lost, etc., so the bib still shows up in Discover, but there are no items for patrons to place holds on. I'd love it if there was a way that Discover would look at the item status mapping settings, and if there are no items available on a bib, automatically suppress that bib. In the future if an item…

Allow other languages to be linked up
For example allow us to link up our website to automatically go to Spanish. We have a few spots on the website that are meant to link to the catalog in Spanish for ease of use of Spanish speakers. I can bring up Spanish language materials, but the catalog itself always defaults to English.
4 votesVega Discover respects the default language set in the user browser. When I set my browser default language to Spanish and go to https://hpld.na4.iiivega.com/ I am defaulted to the Idioma: Espanol (ES) view of Vega Discover without having to select a language.

Option to remove pay fine button in account portal
We currently aren't able to use Vega to allow patrons to pay their fines. We'd like the option to remove the pay fine button as we've had many patrons querying why they can't pay their fine, as the button currently does nothing. If not possible we'd like to be able to link to our library website with information on how to pay fines in the account portal instead.

Add call number to search results and main record display, before getting to a specific edition.
We would really like the call number to display in the search results and in the main record display rather than having to click through to the specific edition. Because of the roll ups, this may mean choosing from multiple records, but it still would be really helpful. Our customers are used to seeing the call number right away instead of having to hunt for it.
1 votePlease use the setting in the Vega Admin Settings > Cog Menu > Library Defaults > Display Settings to turn this on in your catalog: https://documentation.iii.com/vega/admin/admin/DisplayCallNumbers.htm?Highlight=call%20number%20display

wrap titles in checkout/holds/reading history lists
Titles in the checkouts/holds/reading history push the column to the right of the title farther to the right.
I have attached an image. This makes reading the lists very difficult. It does not matter if I change the scale of my font. All of the lists have this issue, and I would suggest that this layout is difficult to scan/read for most.15 votesThis view problem has been fixed. Overdrive/Libby Holds Display With Physical Holds
We have received multiple requests from patrons who would like to see their Overdrive/Libby holds display in the list with their physical holds.
Since Vega Discover displays Overdrive/Libby checkouts in a list with physical item checkouts, it is inconsistent and confusing/misleading to not have the holds display in the patron account portal as well.
15 votesDigital holds do display in the holds view for patrons if they are associated with the displayed account. If you are missing holds that should display please submit a Problem Report to Support.

Make Terms and Vocabulary Editable
We'd like the option to make some of the terms and vocabulary used in Vega Discover to be editable:
At patron login, we'd like to be able to change "Passcode" to something else ("PIN", as this is the terminology we use with our patrons);
Also at login, we'd like to be able to change "Barcode" to something else ("Library Card Number")
We'd also like to update the default wording that is used when patrons choose to save their reading history, so that we can make a reference to such data being accessible to law enforcement when the patron opts in

Switched to Ingram and need to link directly to Vega Discover and not PAC
Support has said Ingram links only with PAC. We do not use PAC. Can this functionality please be added to connect directly to Vega Discover? Thank you.
7 votesFrom what I understand this function being requested is a catalog lookup via individual ISBN from Ingram to your Vega catalog. In this case we have the following options.
In the configuration where you "Enter your library's Internet OPAC address" enter your preferred Vega Catalog URL.
In the ISBN specific search index enter either:
/search?query=
or our direct link to isbns:
/search/card?isbn=
The first option does a search for the ISBN in the everything search. Vega indexes ISBNs into the All/Everything search to help find individual titles by ISBN.
The second option is one of our 4 available options we added to use with 3rd party vendors to link directly to titles using IDs. These are all outlined here: https://documentation.iii.com/vega/admin/admin/LinkToWorksBook.htm
You will not be able to use the iMatch option in Ingram with Vega Discover as you did in Polaris because it uses z39.50 which is not supported in the…

link Sierra's view public display with Vega Discover
Technical Services and Public Service Staff used the "View public display" with Vega Discover on a regular basis when conducting reference interviews with the public. After moving to Vega Discover, the "View public display" option only connect with WebPac. That really isn't the catalogue we want to promote to our users.
Scenario:
Staff will conduct reference interview with Public using Sierra. Once they find the record they want, they can use "View Public Display" to go directly to the Vega record. This is missed by many (and would have been a great tool to help staff engage with the new…2 votesHi Elizabeth,
If you are on Sierra 5.5 or higher and I'm sure you are, you can in fact link to Vega Discover from Sierra. Please see this documentation page that asks you to reach out to support to get this link updated: https://csdirect.iii.com/sierrahelp/Default.htm#sgil/sgil_maint_pub_view.html?Highlight=view%20public%20display

Magazine as a format option
There currently isn't a format option of magazine to limit by. E-magazine is an option, but regular magazine isn't. I see serial, but when I used that filter the physical magazines didn't come up.

Display MARC 086 (government call number) field
Over 90% of our library’s collection is state government documents. State and federal document call numbers are stored in the MARC 086 field, which is not currently displayed in Vega Discover records. Call numbers are like a book’s address; without them, our users are not able to navigate our collection to find the resources they need. Imagine a public library catalog without Dewey Decimal numbers, or an academic library catalog that doesn’t display Library of Congress call numbers. It’s impossible to sort through a collection of thousands of documents without them.
While this issue directly affects government libraries like ours,…

Allow us to view all of the books in a series from the item record
Currently, when you go into the item record for a book there is so much useless information yet trying to simply see all the books in that series isn't listed. There is an option for related resources which is library jargon to patrons and isn't the same as simply having a display of other books in this series to make it easier for patrons.
Also, instead of just telling me (unreliably) if a book is part of a series, it should tell people what number a book is in the series. Doing detective work to figure out if a book…4 votes -
Editing how the showcases look
There should be different view options for showcases so I can pick an option that doesn't display the books in the current way where the covers are just oddly large and take up the entire screen so you don't even know if there's another showcase underneath. Currently, it just looks disproportionate to the overall site and being able to make a different view where maybe the covers are smaller or you can opt to have call number info displayed would be nice.
2 votesHi Tatiana,
There are several ways you can choose to display a showcase, including without any covers at all! The Dumont site is using the Cover Carousels, but you'll see other examples of the home page components on these sites.

reading history
It would be useful if one could see the cover art in their reading history (like you can in the powerpac and app).

Redirect Between Site URL and Custom URL
Most Discover sites have two URLS... a site URL (sitename.hostedregion.iiivega) and their custom URL.
For example, ours are:
berg.na4.iiivega.com
search.bccls.org
We would like a true redirect to exist from the iiivega.com domain to the custom one and have all activity such as logins persist.

Add "Refine Results" to searchable showcases
Please enable the 'Refine Results' option for our 'Searchable Showcases.' Currently, the feature only filters by title and author, but patrons browsing a list would benefit from additional filtering options. If a patron already knows the author and title, they would typically use our catalog directly to search for that material.
Example photo 1) Showing the search bar at the top right included in showcase search that is limited to title/author on that particular list.
Example photo 2) Refine Results which is HEAVILY used by our patrons for finding material to place on hold.
