Last Circ Date in Item Record that is currently checked out
The Circ Date in the item record workform (Circulation tab) is confusing. When an item is currently checked out, the circ date shows the date of the current checkout rather than the previous patron’s checkout date. This is confusing because it appears under “Last Use,” alongside the last borrower and branch information (see attached photo). It would be clearer if this field were labeled more explicitly or moved to a different area, perhaps below the Current Borrower (see attached mock-up).

Auto delete dated notes
We would like the ability to set a date parameter to auto delete dated notes. Our retention policy is to not keep any notes on a patron older than 5 years. Currently our staff need to manually look through all patrons with notes and delete the old ones. Now with dated notes we would like it to do this process for us possibly with an overnight process.
Bonus if it can also avoid dated notes that might be flagged in a way to not delete.

Flag a dated note to float to top
We would like to set a dated note to auto float to the top. In the old notes we always put important notes on top so that it catches a staff members eyes quicker than reading through all the notes. We would also like to flag it in a way that indicates it shouldn't be deleted.
Examples:
We note accounts to indicate someone is a current employee or former employee with staff privileges. We note to not waive fines on patrons that we have had a lot of issues with. No one needs to read through all of their notes…

Alert of Dated Notes
We would like an alert to let us know when a patron has a dated note similar to the old Notes section. Even if it could flag the same NOTES word.
Trying to transition to using dated notes only but we need our circ staff to be aware there are notes to view rather than them going to that section for every patron to see if there are any.

Hide/Supress Material Type and/or Circulation Status in staff view
There are times when Material Types and Circulation Statuses are not used by either the entire system or specific libraries. This can cause staff errors and general confusion when there are options available that are outside of the libraries workflow. We would love to see SA options that would be able to hide/suppress both Material Types and Circulation Statuses in the staff client/Leap.

Ability to bulk move a patron's existing notes data over to the Dated Notes and disable the old Notes section.
Love the new Dated Notes section with the 8.0 upgrade, however, we would like to be able to bulk move the existing non-blocking and blocking notes to the new Dated Notes fields and then disable the old Notes section.
I know the non-blocking notes can be suppressed to not appear at checkout, but I'm referring to disabling all blocking and nonblocking notes allowing staff to only use the new Dated Notes section.
I think it will cause confusion for member library staff to have both Notes sections enabled and nearly impossible to get them all to agree to use one…

Record reason for discarding items
We would like to put in a reason for discarding items. Records are being challenged in court and they want reasons for weeding each item.

POLI ISBN search via remote databases in LEAP
When manually entering POs and POLIs in Leap, I want to be able to do an ISBN search via remote databases to pull in an on-order MARC as I do in the client.

Free Text Option in Leap MARC Editor
Add an optional free-text MARC editing mode to the Leap MARC editor that allows professional catalogers to directly edit bibliographic fields as plain text. Ideally, this would be toggleable at the record level, allowing staff to switch between the formatted MARC view and freetext view as needed.
Leap's current MARC editor is great for copy cataloging, minimal edits, or non-professional staff. However, full-time professional catalogers are often frustrated by the inability to update multiple field at once, paste long blocks of MARC data or navigate through tags using the keyboard. For this type of workflow, Leap's editor is signficantly slower…

Registration renewal option to add a renewal period on top of the existing expiration date
We have paid non-resident fees which get used for unique patron codes which last 1 year. If a customer is renewing their registration early, we give them a year from their expiration date so that they are not losing any of the time that they previously paid for. Perhaps a checkbox in the renewal dialog box to indicate that this is what we want to do, but also an option to have this automatically toggled for certain patron codes and an option to suppress its use when an account is fully expired.

Print view of just items out from Leap patron account without header
In Leap, staff would like to be able to print a list of a patron's items out without printing the whole screen including the header with the patron's account information - similar to the print function available in the items out view of the Patron Status window in the Staff Client. Use case: a patron is checking out some items but has other items at home and wants a list of all their out items with due dates printed on the receipt paper from the desk.

Using Shift + Click for holds
Staff would love to be able the ability to use Shift + Click to select a range of hold requests in the Leap Patron record Holds view. This is an option in the Items out view (as well as in the Find tool and record sets) and it would be great it this could also be added into the patron Holds view.

Patron notifications for holds that become unavailable
Issue
When a patron places an item-level hold and the item’s status is later changed to Missing, Lost, or another status that renders the item unfillable, the patron is not notified of this change. The hold remains in place without any communication, leaving the patron unaware that the request can no longer be fulfilled. This also happens with bib-level holds when the last available item linked to the record goes to a status like Missing or Unavailable.Requested Enhancement
When a hold becomes unfillable due to a status change (e.g., Missing, Lost, Withdrawn, etc.), Polaris should automatically notify the patron…

Granular notice preferences
We recently had a patron complain about receiving 2nd hold notices and hold cancellation notices. Is it be possible to add these notices under "exclude from notices and reminders" in the patron account?

Clean any invalid characters on import of MARC records
Recently, Ingram sent us a MARC record that caused the record to both not show up in LEAP and not be available for API calls, so it didn't show up in our discovery layer either.
It ended up being that there was an invalid character ([ERR] FOR XML could not serialize the data for node 'data()' because it contains a character (0x0019) which is not allowed in XML.) in the MARC record causing this.
It would be helpful if Polaris would clean any incoming MARC record of characters it knows will cause issues.

Ability to have a different 'Number days held for pickup' based on Material Type
Our member libraries would like to have their admission passes (Material Type 'Pass') configured for a 3 or 4 business day pickup window, whereas all other material types are configured for 10 days. (10 days is too long to hold admission passes for pickup, but makes sense for everything else.) I could see where this might be beneficial for other material types also.

Provide a way for administrators to disable all patron credit features
Our libraries would like to disable all the patron credit features. Most of our libraries do not accept lost-and-paid items; once the item is paid for, it belongs to the patron if found. We have 43 libraries in our system and our reconciliations of lost item payments is already complex enough that we can only do it semiannually. Adding a 'paid from credit" line is going to bring up questions from our auditors. And mistakes have already been made when staff doesn't see the credit on a patron's account and so asks them to make a payment.

Greater specificity in Weeding Record set red toasts
When scanning materials into a weeding-type record set, the system throws (broadly) two types of toasts - yellow and red. The yellow toasts very helpfully specify in what exact manner the given item does not match weeding criteria filters. However, the red toasts (excluding "Barcode is invalid" and the indication an item is already in a weeding record set) do not specify in what exact manner the given item falls outside the inclusion criteria.
For especially complex weeding criteria, this can make for one heck of a slog through the item record, and subsequently the attached bibliographic record, to identify…
