Update SIP to handle foreign characters (diacritics)
SIP should handle foreign characters (diacritics) correctly. When a patron's name or an item's title has a diacritic then it throws an error. For some vendors, it breaks the application and prevents customers from logging in and/or accessing their checked out or held items.

Ability to limit the "Number of days past first available" setting to the branch level only.
The "Number of days past first available" setting was developed specifically for the issue where libraries would like the new item's hold requests to be limited to only patrons registered at the item’s assigned branch and other branches associated with the same parent library for a specified number of days. We would like to try this workflow, however, it won't work in our system as all of our branches are under the same library organization.

Add the ability to round all prices to nearest nickel
With the production of pennies ending, we've had some discussion around prices in Polaris. Ideally, we would like to see some method of optionally having all prices (item prices and fines) rounded to the nearest nickel. We haven't run into any problems yet, but as pennies eventually become more scarce, we suspect that we'll have trouble with cash payments.

LEAP: Change status from checkout to Lost or Damage in an item's record
A patron doesn't have their library card number on hand, can there be a way to change the circ status to lost from the item record so the replacement cost can be automatically be charged to the current patron's record? At least from the owning library's side, I understand messing with anything in the 'Details' tab shouldn't be done by another library. Hopefully, it can be done with less hoops to jump through by going through the item history and making sure to select the correct patron or hitting any of the other tabs.

Auto-Renew on Collection Level
We are removing overdue fines for our Children and Teen collections and wanted to enable auto-renew for the collection codes that are related to the Children and Teen collections, but realized auto-renew can only be enabled on an organizational level. It would be great if there was the ability to enable it on a collection level, especially for children's materials as, I'm sure we're all familiar, children are really bad at remembering to renew or return

Add Temporary shelf location to picklist
Make temporary shelf location visible on picklist. Adding this to the picklist will allow staff to quickly locate items that might be on display or some other temporary shelf location.

Auto assign Patron Code based on age
In our system we have different Patron Codes for different ages. This allows us to differentiate services in the library to patrons of different ages. Occasionally, during the registration process (we exclusively use Leap) staff will forget to assign the correct Patron Code based on the new patron's age. If the system was able to auto-assign Patron Codes based on the inputted Birthdate, it would greatly reduce human error.

Ability to bulk update the expiration date to a relative date
Most of our libraries have changed their expiration date to 2 years. For new patrons this is fine, but for most existing patrons, their expiration date will still expire within the original 1 year expiration period. It would be helpful to be able to bulk update patron's expiration date, for a particular branch to a relative date. For example, 2 years from the date of registration.

Placing multiple holds
When staff need to place multiple holds on the same title for a book club, we have to still search for the item individually and select it until we've selected enough copies of that title. If there were a way to simply search once for the title and select whichever bib record you want and be able to indicate how many copies you want from that bib record, it would be easier and more helpful. Not sure if this is possible, but it would be nice.

Ability to suppress patron codes at registration
Our system uses over 20 patron codes but less than half are used when first registering an account. We'd appreciate the ability to suppress some patron codes from the patron code dropdown menu in the NEW patron workform (but not when displaying an existing patron account that has already been saved and had a patron ID assigned). This would cut down on staff accidentally selecting the incorrect patron code when registering accounts.

Being Repaired Transition
We would like Polaris to offer the option for libraries to transition items with a Circulation Status of Being Repaired to Missing or Withdrawn after a specified number of days. We envision this working like Lost Item Transition and Missing Item Transition.
Idea Value
Adding this feature would allow for a more streamlined process for cleaning up, and eventually withdrawing/deleting, item records.11 votes -
Ability for staff to bulk change a patron's pickup branch
Staff would like to be able to bulk change a patron's pickup branch for selected (or all) holds on the patron's account. Be they holds already trapped, suspended or active. We often have patrons that move from one part of the area to another and need to change their holds to reflect their new pickup branch. Having to change one hold at a time is tedious.

Automatic Posting and Sending of OverDues to Library Directors
Post OverDue notices to the database without printing them. We have libraries that are not regularly printing and posting to the database overdue notices so items move in the system to missing and withdrawn before some libraries ever send out a notice. Some libraries haven't sent them in 1-3 years. So, I want to post them and then email a pdf on the overdues automatically on the first of every month.

LEAP User Interface needs Tabs as an alternative
User Interface remains unintuitive, and lack of session tab awareness contributes to workflow issues.
Cosmetic appearance, the Claim icon appearance could be changed or improved.
Add Tabs to be developed as an alternative for User Interface other than the hamburger three horizontal lines.4 votes -
Additional control over which fields in patron registration form are mandatory to save a record
Polaris currently (as of 7.8) offers some limited customization of which fields in the patron registration form in Leap are required to save a record.
When the "Name on ID" fields were introduced several releases ago (7.2?) we were excited. However, the way the feature was implemented meant that the primary name fields were now the "preferred name" fields and were required to be filled out in order to save a record. However, a record could be saved without recording a name on ID.
Our broader city government did not like us dropping the requirement to capture patrons' legal names,…

Title Displayed on "Item is Held" Notification
When checking out a stack of items via RFID pad, LEAP will only display the held item's patron's name and barcode. It would be helpful to have the item's title and/or barcode, so we may capture the hold without going through each item individually.

Add Patron Name to item history
Make it easier for staff to quickly view the borrowing history of an item by including a column that shows the customer's name. Having to click on the PATRONID is meaningless to staff and an additional unnecessary click.

Allow for alphabetizing checkout screen in Leap
Please allow the checkout screen in Leap to be sorted/alphabetized by clicking any of the header columns, Title in particular. This is currently something that can be done in the Polaris client, and is useful for library staff when checking out large amounts of books to patrons who would like an alphabetized list of what they've just checked out. The columns in Leap appear to be clickable for sorting, but they currently are not.

Bib-Level Multiple Holds
This is somewhat of an add-on to other improvement requests to the multiple holds feature. We would like to have an option for bib-level multiple holds. We have noticed that when teachers or book club leaders are placing the multiple holds and assigned to an item-level hold, they might get routed to a member library that doesn't frequently check their requests. This is absolutely a training issue, but we do see this a lot with our K-12 school libraries. We would like to see an option to put them in the queue as a bib-level hold where they will get…

Block e-resources but not renewals for non-residents
We would like to have an option where non-resident patron types have a blocking condition for e-resources, but it only limits e-resources. We would like for them to be able to still manage their online accounts and renew physical items, so the patron-initiated blocking condition does not work. Right now, that can only be done in CloudLibrary through SIP, not API.
1 voteI think this idea needs some clarification. Are you using a non-resident patron code? If so, we do return the PatronCodeID in our PatronValidate API. I wonder if this is a situation where Cloudlibrary has infrastructure in place to support checking the patron code via SIP, but not yet via the Polaris API.
