  1. Our ILL clerk would like to be able to see the due date for ILLs from the request manager, so she can make sure that the dates have been added correctly to these items. She currently has to go into each item individually to make sure they were correct.

  2. Our libraries in our consortium are frustrated when items from other libraries arrive to fill holds for their patrons and their own copy is sitting on their shelves, making the process look rather inefficient.

What I think might solve this is implementing SirsiDynix's "Trap hold with first item received" feature. Rather than try to explain it myself, I've quoted it from their website below:

"Using the "Trap hold with first item received at pickup library" feature, the system can be configured to allow filling a library user's hold with the first holdable copy of an item received at the pickup…

  3. In our previous ILS, we had the ability for renewals to have a different renewal length compared to check out length. For example- books checked out for 28 days but renewals were 14 days.

  4. Currently there is no mechanism to limit the number of active Borrower by Mail requests a patron can have. It would be beneficial for all libraries to be able to limit the number of active BBM requests a patron can have in Polaris.

  5. We’d like the ability to “bulk” cancel holds for items by status (lost, missing, withdrawn, etc.) either by being able to view the circulation status in the patron holds view, or by having the ability to “bulk” cancel holds from a record set.

  6. Some items get stuck in transit and are never found again, it would be nice if these could automatically transition to missing after a customizable period of time, similar to Lost -> Withdrawn and Missing -> Withdrawn.

  7. Currently you can search hold requests by pickup location.
Libraries would also like to search the hold requests by pickup areas.

  8. For our system, having both an expiration date and an address check date is redundant, and staff constantly fail to update the address check date to match the expiration date. I'd like to have the ability to suppress the address check date as well as other fields, such as street address lines 1 and 2.

  10. This currently defaults to "Display," and displays with that status in PAC. Display is a non-circing status that is actually used for items in our special collections, so we can't rename it to something like "In Repair."

If system admin gave an option to set a default status when "Mark Unavailable" is selected from Missing Part Check In, it would streamline workflows as we wouldn't have to go back and change the status in the item record.

  11. Please add a checkbox to exclude Inn-Reach items on the picklist. Inhouse requests are searched separately and by different staff than those who handle Inn-Reach requests, and so it would be nice to have their lists only display inhouse requests. Thanks!

  12. Support should be included so that when lost items are checking via automated materials handlers, they should be checked in and processed - bill waived and item status updated appropriately.

  13. It would be useful to have a pop-up alert for notes to patrons that are important, but not so urgent we need to block their record. This would mean that when staff scanned their card at check out, there would be an obvious pop-up to alert them of a message, rather than relying on them noticing a colour change to the Notes link.

  14. It would be helpful if we could search using the Find Tool for items with a Last Activity Date. Last circulated is a search option, and Last activity is a column option to display, but I have yet found a way to use it in my search criteria.

  15. I love Polaris/Leap 7.7's INN-Reach check-in screen for receiving resource sharing items. Thank you for the update!

Please make it smart enough to handle returns to the owning library as well (or create a similar screen for returns), so staff doesn't have to do the cumbersome, branch-by-branch return process in Request Manager.

    Thanks!

  16. Allow libraries to bulk change due dates of items to account for unexpected closures. Would be ideal to be able to do this from a records set. Or create a SQL job and put it in GitHub or some other accessible location for libraries.

  17. Please add a drop-down box for the profile section of registration. There is a drop-down box for the address section labeled term but there is not one for the profile section. It makes it easier for staff to choose the correct date. In the Polaris toolbar, there is a drop-down box for patron info and address.

  19. Could you please look into providing an input field on SQL Find tool searches to allow the library staff to easily enter a search parameter e.g. an items barcode, a patron barcode.
At the moment with the SQL FIND TOOL searches we have created, we must teach them to go to the WHERE clause and correctly change the parameter before re-executing the query.
A dedicated entry parameter would simplify the use and training of SQL searching using the FIND tool.

  20. A staff member asked us to post this. When using the quick search in leap and typing in a query does not lead to a record, the text should stay inputted so the staff member can edit their query as opposed to having to retype it all over again when trying again.
