Non-blocking Note limit Increase
We have recently been coming up against an error when adding additional notes to the Non-blocking notes field. There is a current character limit of 4,000 characters that's not noted anywhere I could find on the help section. Can this character limit be updated, as there are many instances where notes need to be kept for historical purposes?

LEAP: Pop-up when paying for an outside library's item
Allow for a pop-up when paying for an outside library's item, e.g. 'this is not your library's item, would you like to pay for it' hit continue or cancel, similar to when you're trying to scan a requested item that is meant for another patron. There have been times when a patron comes to pay for another library's item in cash, and unless the staff member checks to make sure that it's only overdue fees or fees that pertains to their particular library, they keep that outside library's payment. They then have to reimburse the item-owning library or the item-owning…

Allow us to change Circ Status to Withdrawn without checking the item in first.
It can be confusing when staff look at the history for an item and it says it was Checked in/Available and then it shows it as Withdrawn. This happens when we are preparing bills and we need to withdraw an item with the Circulation Status of Lost/Damaged/Replacement cost before we can bill the other library. It would be nice to open the Item Record for the specific item and declare it Withdrawn. I would suggest that a BIG RED BOX pop up and say "YOU ARE GETTING READY TO DECLARE THIS ITEM WITHDRAWN. IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO?" …

Make it possible to highlight and copy text from Dated Notes in patron account
The Dated Patron notes in Polaris 8.0 do not allow you to highlight the text for copying - the field is protected. Staff would like to be able to highlight and copy the entire note or specific parts of the note (like barcodes) in order to quickly and easily either re-create the note with changes (since it can't be edited) or do a search for a related item or patron recorded in the note.

WebSA branch hours-modifying permissions
Presently in the Polaris client there are two paths to updating a branch's hours of operation in the Administration Explorer. The first is to access the table in the SA path Parameters > Patron Services > Hours of Operations; the second is to right-click the branch name, choose to edit it, and in the new window that opens go to the Tools menu and choose 'Define Hours of Operation'. The first of these two approaches requires the permission 'Modify parameters: Allow', and the second does not.
We rely on staff being able to use the second approach for editing hours…

Allow filtering bib search by stat code
When doing a bibliographic record search, you can filter by Collection (which is only assigned at the item level) but not by Statistical Code (which is also only assigned on the item level).
It would be helpful to have the option to filter by stat code as well.

Configure notification options based on the loan period or specific items
It would be nice to be able to configure notification options based on the loan period or specific items. For example, we would like to send overdue notice for the public laptops that are overdue every 2-hours session.

ExpressCheck Language String Placeholder Breaks Item Information Display
When I adjust the language string with StringID ECTEXTBARCODE_PLACEHOLDER it is changed in two places, one of which is a surprise to me:
* The wording in the input field for the patron card number and
* The label for item information on the "Items Out" screen.
The latter needs to have a separate StringID to make the former work in any meaningful way.7 votes -
Our libraries would like the option to "lock" the multiple holds in a group
Our libraries have mentioned that when staff places multiple holds on different formats of a title and then groups these holds for a patron, the loveliest conscientious patrons will go in and delete the additional holds, thus defeating the staff's intention, which was to create multiple grouped holds in order to expedite the filling of the hold. It would be helpful if there was an option to prevent removing holds when they're in a group.

Edit inventory date via a record set
We would like the ability to update the inventory date directly via a record set. Currently, to update the date for recently checked-in items, we must generate a text file of barcodes and upload it through the Check In - Inventory workform. We are hoping for a feature that allows us to edit inventory dates within a record set, similar to the 'edit due dates' function.

Option to reorder tabs in Patron Record view
Polaris continues to add more tab options in Leap patron records (most recently for the Dated Notes), but the newest features frequently end up getting hidden in the More menu.
It would be really nice if each staff member had the ability to reorder the tabs in their patron record view, so they can ensure their most used tabs remain visible even if they are zoomed in or using a smaller screen.
For instance, many of our libraries do not use the Reader Services tab. For those libraries, it would be wonderful to have the option to move the Reader…

Scheduled holds/checkouts
The ability to schedule holds or checkouts in advance would be a valuable feature for both libraries and patrons. Many libraries offer a variety of items beyond traditional books, such as computers, StoryWalk kits, activity kits, technology kits, and other specialty collections, that patrons may need to access on a specific date or for a particular event.
Allowing patrons or staff to schedule a hold or checkout for a designated day would help ensure that high-demand or event-based materials are available exactly when needed. For example, educators, community organizations, and families often plan programs, classroom activities, or events well in…

Make “Satisfied By” list in Hold Request screen sortable and filterable
Product Area: LEAP – Hold Request Screen
Description:
On the Hold Request screen, the “Satisfied By” tab displays a list of item barcodes and branches that could satisfy a hold. Currently, this list cannot be sorted or filtered, unlike many other list views in LEAP.When a title has a large number of copies, the list becomes difficult to review and troubleshoot. Staff must manually scan through all rows to determine which items are Held, Out, or otherwise unavailable, and to identify where those items are located.
Requested Enhancement:
Enable the same sorting and filtering functionality used in other LEAP…5 votes -
Provide streamlined option for placing a group of customers on hold for the same group of titles
Our library has a program where we supply community members with books to read to classrooms. All readers receive the same set of 4-6 titles. While Polaris' function of placing everyone in a record set on hold for the same title helps, it would be great if, when the find tool pops up upon clicking Place Multiple Holds, you could change the database from Bibliographic to Record Set to simultaneously place all the customers in the patron record set on hold for all the titles in the bib record set.
With hundreds of readers across our 28 locations, having this…

Display an error message when quick search cannot find anything due to network issues
When staff use the quick search box during busy times, the results come up empty. Sometimes they know they have the items and will wait to try again, but other times they assume no one owns the title and end up creating a duplicate record.
When searching is affected by network performance, Leap should be handling that exception and displaying an error to the user. Blank results are a result and it is confusing people.

Customize Copy funtion in Leap
Add the ability to customize what fields are "copied" when clicking on the Copy button in a patron record. Or as an alternative, create custom patron templates that can be selected both when copying a record and creating a new record.
For Example: Our Staff use the Copy function most often with registering multiple members in the same family. Rarely is the information in the Profile View the same (Name, Patron Code, Birth Date, etc.) and if staff aren't careful they could forget to change these fields - fields that are reflected in the various system tables.

Polaris should re-evaluate hold eligibility when trapping preferences are set
When a hold request is placed, Polaris performs an eligibility evaluation only once—at the moment when the request is first placed. Polaris does not re-evaluate eligibility later. So if Polaris is configured to use hold trapping preferences that prefers "my patron" but some temporary circumstance prevents the assigned library's item from filling a hold for the library's patron, the hold must now be filled by a different library. This can be mitigated if staff notice the problem and delete and replace the hold, but this is a lot of extra overhead and in all likelihood the problem will go unnoticed.…

Exclude holds from outreach patrons from our picklist and show the patron's name.
We would like the ability to exclude holds from outreach patrons from our picklist, since the outreach module has its own picklist. In addition, having the picklist to show the patron's name would be a great feature.

Add support for direct print (QZ tray) to leap offline
Add support for Leap direct print using QZ tray to Leap offline. That way libraries don't have to figure out something special when they are in offline mode which is already a stressful time period for them.

Allow staff to select sounds
Allowing staff to select different sounds when checking items in and out would be a great benefit. For example, when checking an item in and there is a hold, a different sound would help alert the staff, or when a patron's library card is scanned for checkout, a custom-selected warning sound would play. At busy times, it is easy to just go with flow because all the sounds are the same.
