  1. There should be two statuses to easily identify lost and paid vs. lost and not paid billed materials. This would help make running reports much easier and help identify the status of lost items.

  2. Currently, receipt/slip configuration is hard-coded into Polaris system administration. Libraries are limited in what information they can add to a receipt or slip and do not have control over design elements in sys admin. Innovative does not recommend modifying the related SQL job to make changes there. It would be helpful to have greater flexibility and customization options for libraries, especially for hold and in-transit slips. For example, a library could configure in-transit slip information to match what is required by their library system's delivery service.

  3. Currently printing receipts from the Leap web app is unideal, requiring either significant manual intervention from the user or extensive browser tweaks to get it operable. A background desktop client (similar to JSPrintManager) could handle the printing far better than the browser does natively.

  4. Currently, when limiting a search to the material type "Book", electronic resources (eBooks) are displayed as well. It would be nice if the material type "Book" only produced physical book results.

  7. Currently, when working through Picklist processing, items can be marked as "Located". While this is useful for in-library work flow to indicate that it has been found, it doesn't do anything to prevent another member library or branch location from filling the hold request when trapped at point of check-in. This causes problems in a multi-branch or larger consortia system where there is a higher chance of popular material being checked in throughout the day.

  8. Leap should include the ability to create or add to an item record from the check-in workform. Most of the functionality is already there in that items can be selected via checkboxes and all items can selected from the topmost checkbox. By adding the option to the Actions menu, circ staff could quickly roll items over into a record set for a variety of other uses.

  9. Having patrons blocked from placing holds if there account is blocked is greatly needed, as patrons can currently place holds through Leap, Vega, Mobile App even if they are blocked for having too many fines.

  11. When sorting by a column, then choosing an item and hitting located, it resets the sort back to the default.

    This is not ideal at our larger locations who may be pulling dozens of items at a time.

  12. Currently, patrons receive a default email message when their hold is cancelled. It would be great for staff to have the ability to enter a reason or write a brief message letting the patron know why their hold was cancelled.

  13. We currently have the ability to set the default status for the 3 request manager views but it would be great to be able to set a default VIEW for request manager to open in as well. At our library, Request Manager is intensively used for receiving incoming INN-Reach requests (ILL view) and it would save time if we could make that the default view.

  14. When libraries within our consortium borrow and lend items among each other, they send those items through the mail. Currently, they have to manually look up each other's mailing addresses (many times by Googling which isn't always accurate). It would save staff time and reduce errors if a library's mailing address could be included on the In-Transit Slips.

    This would also allow for libraries to ensure the requesting library has their 'preferred' mailing address if an item needs to be returned to a location other than the owning library. For example, if a Main Library processes holds for its smaller…

  15. It would be awesome if we could add or adjust the information that displays on the Check In screen in Leap, for example to include an item's shelf location for easier staff sorting - and it would also help to catch Display items that have circulated on their return.

As a multi-branch system that floats some of our collections, we desperately need a way to set limits on the number of copies on shelf without giving up our ability to set limits on overall floating collection size. Currently in Polaris you must choose one limit or the other. Being able to spread copies throughout our system makes them more available for discovery and increases circulation.

  17. Often library staff place requests on specific items and need to follow-up when the item is returned (check condition, re-label, compare copies of title, replace, discard, etc.). Our previous ILS supported a hold notes field that would display the saved note when the item was checked out. This reminded staff of why they had requested the item, or would let another staff member know what needed to be done with the item when the hold was filled. Currently, when a patron selects a library for a hold in the PAC and Pickup Areas are enabled, the default option is "None" which might not make as much sense to them, and they might think they have to select one of the other options (if there are any). Can "None" be changed to something more intuitive like "Walk-in" or "Inside" or "Regular"?

  20. Indian Trails Library has several members who own 2 properties in 2 different CCS Library areas. Several times now these member's accounts were merged due to other library staff in other libraries not looking at the member's notes. This upsets the members and is more work for library staff to recreate the other account.
