Allow greater customization of slips/receipts
Currently, receipt/slip configuration is hard-coded into Polaris system administration. Libraries are limited in what information they can add to a receipt or slip and do not have control over design elements in sys admin. Innovative does not recommend modifying the related SQL job to make changes there. It would be helpful to have greater flexibility and customization options for libraries, especially for hold and in-transit slips. For example, a library could configure in-transit slip information to match what is required by their library system's delivery service.

We would like to be able to include the patron's notification option on hold pickup slips. We don't use IPA, so when processing holds, we have to check the notification option in the patron's account to see if they need a phone call. Regular hold slips include the notification option, but not hold pickup slips.

I also want to chime in on how important greater flexibility is. We're attempting to utilize the pick-up areas to ID requests for ADA-accessible lockers with our new lockers, and not being able to add that info to our in-transit slips is doubling the workload.

Greater customization is always going to be preferred. Though the receipts are sufficient, they could be great.

We just had a library ask us if it was possible to emphasize the pickup area (like Locker) on the hold slip. Their staff is often missing that the hold is for the locker, not the holds shelf. Of course, the info is there, but if it could be bolded, or in a larger font that the rest of the info on the slip, there'd be fewer mistakes and their patrons wouldn't be showing up after hours, only to find that their hold isn't in the locker--imagine the frustration!

This looks like it could maybe also incorporate another Idea Exchange suggestion related to holds slips?

We have tried all of the Polaris layouts. The layout we prefer provides the date in full format, such as Wednesday, September 22, 2024. The receipt clips after the first day digit, such as "Wednesday, September 2". This is primarily a problem on Wednesdays during September. Other months are just short enough to allow both day digits, so we still use this layout. We would prefer 09/22/2024 to full words. Thanks!

We are a consortium and would really, really appreciate the ability to customize in-transit slips. What Eric Lozauskas described would be great. It would also be great to be able to rearrange the order in which those fields appear. In the past, we have been able to put route information (we have 5 color-based routes between our 32 branches) on the slips, and we've just figured out a workaround to get the route info on there, but now our sorting room would like the fields to be reversed in order.

If this could be offered, it would be nice to be able to configure bold text/large type on our holds slips. With our recent addition of a new pick-up area, it would better identify for staff where items need to go.

We would like to be able to have more options for configuring the Hold Pickup Slip. Our current hold pickup slip is printed using an older piece of Bibliotheca RFID software that is no longer supported. The software allows us to configure the position, orientation and font size of each element on the hold slip. We are also able to select the number of characters to print for each of those elements, for example, first 3 characters of the last name, first character of the first name, etc.

I'd love to see more flexibility on these. Being able to have branch-defined fields could in effect allow us to re-create our regional delivery slips in the setup of our routing slips. This would eliminate alot of work, use less paper, and eliminate clutter around each library.

This is especially important with the addition of pickup areas in 7.5. We've gotten a lot of feedback from front-line staff that the pickup area information is not clearly visible on the hold slips and stuff gets mis-shelved.

Yes, the ability to pull additional field data on in-transit slips. Perhaps similar to user defined fields, we could have branch defined fields, a BDF so to speak. So that BDF1 could have a description of "Route" and contain a route number, and BDF2 could have a description of "Stop" and contain a stop number for delivery purposes. These fields could then be customizable by any customer for their needs and display purposes on a per branch basis on receipts or in other areas of the ILS.
