Exclude ebooks from "Book" Material Type for searching
Currently, when limiting a search to the material type "Book", electronic resources (eBooks) are displayed as well. It would be nice if the material type "Book" only produced physical book results.

Thanks to Jennifer for bringing this up. Yes, physical books are IDK, probably still 50% of a public library's offerings; it seems that, at least since 1455, they should get their own category (although for a university there would be hardcover subcategories). Electronic media are in constant flux; I recommend displaying only those categories that satisfy the user's query.

I agree with others that there should be an easy way to search for "Books" that are not "eBooks".

Our patrons and public services staff have asked for this for years. Like @Emma Olmstead-Rumsey noted, it is inconsistent with the way we can limit other searches. It would make it easier for patrons to find exactly what they need in our collections.

This would be a great idea. Less than 3% of our eContent checkouts run through the PAC, in any given month, so the patrons searching the PAC presumably aren't looking for eBooks.

The inconsistency of this drives me crazy. Why can you search for 'digital but not physical books' but not for 'physical but not digital books'? It doesn't make sense, and more importantly, most of our ebook users are searching our ebook platforms (Libby, hoopla, etc.), not the PAC. The patrons using the PAC are specifically there because they want physical items.
