Support Star receipt printers with QZ Tray
The new QZ tray receipt printing in 7.8 is a great "leap" forward for Leap printing. However, it does not support Star receipt printers, and you cannot add support for them via a configuration of QZ or within Leap.
Since Star receipt printers are supported in Polaris: https://iii.rightanswers.com/portal/app/portlets/results/viewsolution.jsp?solutionid=160930969880949
This is a request that support for them be added to the QZ Tray receipt printing.
PS You can switch Star printer to support Epson commands as shown here: https://forum.innovativeusers.org/t/star-receipt-printers-not-supported-in-star-line-mode-with-qz-tray-switching-to-esc-pos-emulation/2566

We discussed this in the August PIAC call. The QZ Tray printing does support STAR printers, but there can be some extra steps if you are dealing with printers that were not previously working/connected with Leap. (As Wes noted in his PS about printer commands).
We are working on a knowledgebase article that to provide more context on the considerations and how the parts/pieces fit together. I'm going to close this enhancement as already supported.

I can confirm this has been consistent guidance for a long time. I have emails going back to 2010 asking Polaris what receipt printers they recommended, and the only manufacturer they would put their name behind was Star. In our case, it was the 700 series, but the message was clear: Star was the standard. That makes support in QZ Tray critical for us since it's the only receipt printer used in all of my libraries.

I echo Daniel, almost all our libraries use Star printers and it's what we recommend for all new purchases.

Almost all of the libraries we work with use Star printers. Indeed, if we're asked what kind of printer they need to buy, we always say Star, specifically we recommend Star TSP100III futurePRNT device. Polaris Leap and the Staff Client have always played well with the Star printers, so it's absolutely vital that the new ExpressCheck and QZ Tray do the same.
