Staff's ability to make item bulk changes should follow permissions for item record change
Currently item bulk change functionality allows staff to bulk change fields that they can't change in individual item records. This allows staff to modify item records using bulk change when they're blocked from modifying directly in the item record. The same permissions should apply to bulk change:
• Item records: Modify cataloging view
• Item records: Modify source and acquisitions view
• Item records: Modify reserves view
• Item records: Modify history viewThe library feels this is a data security risk. Fundamentally, here is the question: what is the purpose of the permission Item records: Modify cataloging view?
If…

Expand Bulk Change to allow editing
Currently, Bulk Change allows staff to replace existing information in free-text fields, and add to the beginning or end of the field in some cases. However, existing text cannot be edited.
For example, if a group of item records need the volume numbering changed from “v.” to “vol.,” Bulk Change cannot update all the items if they have different volume numbers. Staff have to replace “v. 1” with “vol. 1,” then do all the v. 2s, then v. 3s, and so on. Similarly, if a library discovers that some of its records have incorrect diacritics, each word must be changed…

Move the Leap quotes out of WebAdmin and into SA
The author quotes in Polaris Leap suddenly became a hot topic because of a Neil Gaiman quote within the list. While making some adjustments, it occurred to me that there are more possibilities for those Leap quotes and that they could be used to convey real information to the staff about things like upcoming Polaris upgrades, library events, and so on. At the very least, changing the quotes in WebAdmin is a bit of a pain because you have to change a quote and an author separately.
My idea is that the quotes should be added to SA, where they're…

Add the Ad Hoc Bulk Change Button to POs and Invoices in Leap
Acquisitions staff frequently need to bulk change item records for a specific order. This is commonly done for orders that were placed manually instead of using EDI or if Polaris created item records using the wrong template. In the Client, it can efficiently be done as an ad hoc bulk change by opening the list of items that are linked to a PO or invoice. The ad hoc bulk change button should be added to the tab that contains the list of item records linked to the PO and Invoice in Leap in order to make this process more efficient.…

Transitioning Claim Returned and Claim Never Had
We would like Polaris to transition items with a Circulation Status of Claim Returned and Claim Never Had to Withdrawn after a specified number of days. We envision this working like Lost Item Transition and the Missing Item Transition.
Idea Value
Adding this feature would allow a library to automatically remove items from patron view and allow for a more streamline process for deleting item records.50 votes -
Automatically change items stuck in transit to missing
Some items get stuck in transit and are never found again, it would be nice if these could automatically transition to missing after a customizable period of time, similar to Lost -> Withdrawn and Missing -> Withdrawn.

Undo/Redo Buttons in the Leap MARC Editor
In the Client, there are undo and redo buttons. The undo button is particularly useful when someone has made a mistake. It quickly allows staff to correct the mistake by pressing a single button. When training technical services staff to use Leap, this button is clearly missed. Having this button will make the transition to Leap easier. Questions and comments about the lack of the undo button are common during training.

Limit the shelf location drop-down menu in the item bulk change workform to the library
In item records, the shelf location drop-down menu only lists the shelf locations for the assigned branch or owning branch. However, the shelf location drop-down menu in the item bulk change work form lists the shelf locations for all libraries in the consortium. Many of these shelf locations are similar. It can make it easy to choose the wrong one by mistake. Here are some examples:
“Graphic Novel” vs. “Graphic Novels”
“Adult New DVD / Blu-ray” (with spaces) vs. “Adult New DVD/Blu-ray” (no spaces) vs. “Adult New DVDs/Blu-Rays.”The item bulk change workform should be updated so that the shelf…

Recall function
Create a recall function that is separate from the holds queue so Technical Services can get items back (for relabeling, for weeding, etc.). Technical Services often use internal cards to place holds on a specific barcode. This sometimes work, but has a few drawbacks:
1. The hold disrupts circulation (renewals, other holds, potentially in-transit)
2. If the item goes into a status that cannot fulfill holds (e.g. item becomes LOST), the holds will go back the queue and be reassigned to another item on the bib. Technical Services usually needs the specific barcode, not just any item on the bib.…

Trap hold with first item received
Our libraries in our consortium are frustrated when items from other libraries arrive to fill holds for their patrons and their own copy is sitting on their shelves, making the process look rather inefficient.
What I think might solve this is implementing SirsiDynix's "Trap hold with first item received" feature. Rather than try to explain it myself, I've quoted it from their website below:
"Using the "Trap hold with first item received at pickup library" feature, the system can be configured to allow filling a library user's hold with the first holdable copy of an item received at the pickup…

Add Library Level to Hold Pickup Limit
Currently, a library may limit an item to be holdable for pickup at a single branch location. This setting allows the item to be limited to pick up at the item's assigned branch only. While this feature may work for single-branch libraries, it does not function in a practical way for multi-branch libraries. Expanding this feature to have a library-level option would increase the usability of this setting.
Example 1: Library A has 3 branches. They want to make their mobile hotspots holdable for pickup at any of their 3 branches. They do not want their hotspots to be placed…

Allow for customization of the Notification preferences dropdown in PAC self-registration
In order to require patrons who are self-registering via the PAC to choose a notification preference, please remove the 'none' option from the Preferences dropdown, or at least allow for the option to customize what appears in the Preferences dropdown. By removing 'none' - or allowing for the option to remove it - patrons would effectively be required to provide a notification method, which would allow the library they are self-registering with to easily contact them should any problems arise with their application.

Display latest additions to record sets at the top of the record set
We create large weeding record sets by pulling items from the shelves then scanning them into the record set. Additions to the set are always shown at the bottom of the list. This means the user needs to keep scrolling to the end of the list to be assured their scanned item did save to the list and if they want to query last scanned items.
This request is simply to change the order in which the set is displayed on screen, with most recent additions added at the top of the list.

No longer require carrier when selecting TXT
As libraries move away from using gateways to send text messages we would like to make the wireless carrier field optional.

If Leap quick search doesn't find a record, don't clear the text
A staff member asked us to post this. When using the quick search in leap and typing in a query does not lead to a record, the text should stay inputted so the staff member can edit their query as opposed to having to retype it all over again when trying again.

Allow for adding a file to a record set by UPC
Currently, the only option for importing a file with bibliographic data into a record set in Leap is by ISBN. It would be helpful for staff to have the option to be able to use UPC as well, as ISBN restricts this to just books and audiobooks. This leaves out DVDs and Blu-rays, as well as other non-book/audiobook material such as a Library of Things.

SIP2 support for checking in lost items via sorter
Support should be included so that when lost items are checking via automated materials handlers, they should be checked in and processed - bill waived and item status updated appropriately.

Add a copy button to supplier records in Leap
The ability to copy existing records makes record creation more efficient. In the Client, staff have the ability to copy an existing supplier record to create another one with similar information. This happens when staff have multiple supplier records for the same vendor because they have separate account numbers. A copy button is not in the supplier record workform in Leap yet. It should be added to the actions drop-down menu of the supplier record like it is in other record types. This will allow staff to feel like the transition to Leap will be easier since it is a…

Leap doesn't save or prompt to save notes when you close a record
- Open a patron record in leap
- Navigate to the notes section
- Make a change to the note field
- Click the button to close the note (upper right hand corner)
The note is not saved, nor is a warning message shown. This is different from the behavior of the desktop, which always saves the note when you close the record (not really the preferred behavior either since there is no undo in notes).
This should work the way changes to the patron registrations work in Leap - warn there has been a change before allowing the record to be closed.

Ability to block holds by resource group or vendor account
Library staff frequently place holds that can’t be filled on the records for e-books from non-integrated vendors like Hoopla. Canceling these holds takes time. Since we still need to allow holds for the integrated vendors, we can’t change the material type to unholdable in system administration. Adding the ability to block holds by resource group or vendor account would solve the problem.
