Add Vega Discover Patron Language Translations
Library staff have asked for the following translations to be made available so that patrons can select them in Vega Discover:
- Arabic
- Urdu
- Korean
- Russian
- Telugu
- Tagalog
- Bengali
- Hindi
- Gujarati
Many of our libraries serve linguistically diverse populations, but I know that Gujarati, Hindi, and Urdu would be adopted by several of them.

Allow for more information to be searched while using the Search Editions bar in the Resource pages
For materials that have a large number of editions, the search bar feature doesn't currently assist with narrowing down to a specific item. It will only search for Item Record Data. Being able to search for the Publication Date, Edition, and Publisher would assist those looking for a specific material.

Ability to edit collection and kiosk site names
Sometimes the site name given to a collection or kiosk at creation ends up not being useful or accurate later on.
Before the patron portal, only staff could see these names so the problem was limited, but now that patrons can choose a default collection, the unchangeable site names are exposed.
Issues that would be fixed by this: typos in site names, test sites turned into real sites, collections and kiosks with the same name making user management confusing.
Deleting and re-creating is not easy because the sites may already be configured with staff permissions, homepages, settings, etc. that would…

Remove Bookmark option when not logged in
The Bookmark feature does not seem to work now that the new patron account feature has been released. A user can click the bookmark icon and gets the message "temporarily saved to Bookmarks", but there is no way to see them. Is it possible to remove this option or changing the message to indicate the user must login to save?
8 votesThere is a problem with the bookmarking functionality that was originally intended to allow a non-authenticated user to bookmark items and when they realized they are not logged in, Vega would put all the current 'guest bookmarks' into the user's for later list.
This seems to have stopped working with other development and no one has reported the Problem. I would love to hear from customers whether we should reinstate the old guest workflow, have the bookmark action prompt a user to login, or hide bookmark actions from guest users.

Reading History Filter
Patrons with a lengthy reading history are looking for more options to filter objects, for example, by collection or item type. Right now, there is only the ability to sort by title, author, or date of checkout.

Promote Relevance Button
In Encore there was a button for staff to manually promote the relevance of certain titles to appear at the top of search results. We'd like to see something similar implemented in Vega to ensure titles that we expect patrons to want to see first are listed first. Example below, of Ulysses by James Joyce being fourth in the results for a basic search of "ulysses"

Account Portal - limit default collection options
In the account portal we would like a way to limit what is displayed in the "default collection" drop down. Often times there are times when we might have a collection site used for testing or one not ready to be discovered that the patron will have access to.

import saved searches from PowerPAC as well as saved lists
During implementation, saved searches should be imported as well as saved lists when a library requests it. We recently went through Vega implementation and patrons are very disappointed that their saved searches aren't in the Account Portal. While they can recreate the searches, this discourages Vega adoption by a large number of our patrons. They would rather say within the PowerPAC and continue running their searches there.

add author to checkouts & holds lists (as it appears in circ history list)
Please add the author details to the holds lists (as it appears in the circ history list). I see many ideas about sorting holds and current checkouts by author, so I thought I would include the obvious, and ask that the author display for both lists. It does appear for circ history, and customers need this to manage their circulation.

Allow Scheduled Showcases to be Added to Vega Homepage Before Publish Date
When scheduling Vega homepage content for awareness months it would be convenient to be able to add scheduled, but as-yet-unpublished, showcases to a scheduled block.

Account Portal : Checkouts & Holds & Reading History
In the account portal the 3rd option on the left includes Checkouts & Holds & Reading History. There is not enough space for those 3 terms. The text will not wrap. If the text cannot wrap, can we have a separate option for "Reading History". We have had many customers ask if that could be on a separate page.

Hoopla Flex records should be included in Hoopla Ingests
We have both Hoopla Flex titles and Hoopla Instant titles. We're using the Hoopla ingest, but it doesn't include records from our growing Hoopla Flex collection. Our cataloging team has been looking at manually loading Hoopla Flex MARC records into our ILS. We had previously stopped manually loading eContent records even prior to purchasing Discover simply because it is so often a losing battle to keep records in sync. We'd be made whole if we could receive all of our Hoopla records through the ingest. Previously, we were waiting for Hoopla to update their API, but I’ve been informed by…

Sort hold queue numbers by their full value instead of just the first digit
In the account portal, users want to sort their holds by where they are in the hold queues. They can do this, but the sort is not by the full value of the number. I can't imagine that anyone would expect the current sort.
I have attached an example.
In this list the sort appears as : 10, 17, 157, 30, 416 votes -
Make all side buttons in the patron account portal go back to the highest level/default
With the buttons on the left-hand side (Overview, Account, Checkouts & Requests, Bills & Fines, Bookmarks, Saved Searches), some of them do not provide easy navigation back to the start once you are within that area. For example, I click on Bookmarks and it takes me to the list of my lists. But if I then click into one of the lists, clicking that button doesn't take me back out to all my lists. There is a breadcrumb navigation trail at the top, which is good, but I would also expect the button on the side to take me back…

Use first name first or nickname for patron account portal
In the account portal, use the initial of the account's first name instead of last name and show the name in the format "First Last"--except when there is a nickname, in which case use the nickname. The circled letters seem designed to differentiate between linked accounts, so I can foresee families in which everyone is labelled with the same letter and you can mostly only see the last name.
(This would only apply when there are multiple accounts. I agree with this idea when there are no linked accounts: https://ideas.iii.com/forums/951766-vega-discover/suggestions/50968153-suppress-the-patron-name-when-account-linking-is-n)
Also, use the first name, or nickname if there…

Support 024 7 for danacode searches (Hebrew items)
Several of our libraries collect materials in Hebrew, and almost all of those items have a danacode as a unique identifier. Some also have an ISBN but many don't, and their only identifier is the danacode, which is found in the 024 (with first indicator 7 in most cases, but sometimes 8 when the 'scannable' danacode is listed also).
However, when you try to search Vega by danacode, it doesn't work. It works without any problems in Polaris and in the old PAC.
A previous idea that was completed (for 024 3) stated: "As we see it, the obvious solution…

When searching with a limiter to a single location using facets, that location should display in the rollup's "On shelf at" text line
Attached is a screenshot of the a search result for the work "found dogs." Our library has three branches: South, Valley Ranch, and West. South's copy is checked out, and Valley and West's copies are on the shelves. The patron has used the location facet to limit to the WEST branch.
You'll notice that because South's copy is checked out, the branches are listed as:
+Valley Ranch|+West|xSouth--South is placed at the end even though it's first alphanetically. However, the line of text that displays above this is "On shelf at Valley Ranch" because Valley Ranch precedes West alphabetically.
We propose…

Wording for Cookie Preferences
The current wording for the cookies is not clear to patrons. Clicking on "Manage Cookie Preferences" displays a pop-up that doesn't actually give the user any option to manage their preferences. It also includes some wording that says "the types of cookies we use are described below" without actually describing them. At the very least, a clearer description about what the strictly necessary cookies are that are being used would be helpful.

Remove the option to freeze a hold once the hold request is already in Held status
Discover's hold management button offers the option to 'freeze' a hold when an item has already been trapped and held for the hold request. Our ILS (Polaris) does not offer the option to freeze holds when a hold is already in held status, so this will always fail. The default error message the patron gets is "Freeze failed. Try again." That message is misleading because trying again will never work. However, the language string is used for ANY failed freeze, so if you edit it, you have to edit it to something clunky like "Freeze failed. Item may be in…

Update internal logic to allow selection of the identifiers (e.g. ISBN, UPC, etc) that Discover sends to Syndetics Unbound for cover images
The Nov 5, 2025 Discover Release Notes (https://iii.rightanswers.com/portal/app/portlets/results/viewsolution.jsp?solutionid=250108121147587&guest=0#mcetoc_1j9d37oot2) introduced format level cover images. Now only one identifier is sent to Syndetics in the following hierarchy / order:
- Configured custom 856 Cover URLs
- ISBN
- EAN/IAN
- ISSN
- UPC
This purportedly fixed an error where incorrect cover images would appear when both ISBN and UPC identifiers were sent to Syndetics, since these ISBN / UPC numbers in the cover image link might come from different records in the rollup.
However, in the case of rollups of thousands of our AV records (Music CDs and DVDs/Blu-rays), this change introduced a new issue:…
