The lack of a free text editor is one of the major deficits preventing us from switching to LEAP. The ability to easily copy and paste, highlight, add, remove, and reorder fields is absolutely crucial to our work. The line-by-line editor is cumbersome and takes up so much of the screen that we can't view even short MARC records at a glance.

This would be excellent! LEAP in general has an issue with wasted space. I can view whole item records at-a-glance in the client (even multiple item records), allowing me to quickly check and edit fields. But the same record in LEAP takes up more than twice as much space. This requires a lot of scrolling to navigate. Being able to hide the header to see more fields at once would be very helpful to our workflows!
