Please - we had this in Encore and Webpac and developed many workflows around the ability to communicate to our library users via the patron messages in Sierra. We will need to start calling/emailing library users to notify them of various things, and that really is a step backwards for us.

Please enable this or provide the ability to remove the barcode image. Customers are trying to scan their laptops and other devices at the self checkouts because they think this is scannable.

Example of why the current search is not intuitive for the public:
This is my experience with the author "Beaty, Andrea"
Search one: start typing "beaty" and the title shows up.
Search two: start typing "beaty andrea" and the title shows up
Search three: start typing Andrea and the title shows up

We find that teenagers and children want to get rid of those old titles they read when they were younger. Also, those that have moved past a medical illness also want to remove the titles from long ago.

The 490 field can be inconsistent, as it draws from title pages. The series may be written differently with each edition or reissue. The authority, however, will remain consistent. Therefore, it is most helpful to our patrons to have the series hyperlink point to the authority field, which is in the 8XX.
For example: A 490 displays "A Ballard and Bosch novel." This is taken off of the title page and is different than the 800 authorized series heading, "Renée Ballard and Harry Bosch novel."
Both of these records are following correct cataloguing procedures. The consistent authorized heading appears in the 800 in both records. This makes it the best place for VEGA to draw series info from.
