An error occurred while saving the comment MEEP candidate for the Polaris 8.3 release
Functional Requirements (what does it need to do?)
- Update the item record workform in Leap to include a new action “Withdraw item”
- Expected to include a new permission to allow restriction of the action to specific staff members
- Expected this new action will move the item to Withdrawn status without checking the item in
- Expected this action will only be enabled for items in a Lost, or Lost and Paid, circulation status
- Expected the item would no longer be eligible for automatic lost recovery
- Expected to log an item record history entry
- Expected to charge any accruing overdue fines to the patronAn error occurred while saving the comment Hi Susan,
Polaris has the lost item transition process that would automatically transition lost items to Withdrawn after a set amount of time being lost and not require staff to check them in first. Does that process not work for your workflows?
Here is the help article about it for reference: https://documentation.iii.com/polaris/8.0/Default.htm#PolarisStaffHelp/Patron_Services_Admin/PDPitems/Set%20up%20lost%20item%20transition%20to%20missing%20or%20withdrawn.htm? -

- Update the initial Find Tool that launches from the Compare action on a bibliographic record to include the ability to switch to Bibliographic Record (Remote Databases) and select one or more records to add to the Compare workform
* Not expected to exceed current maximum selection, may need to limit further due to performance issues with remote database connections
- Display the MARC from the record retrieved from the remote database
* Bib record launch icon would be disabled for remote records that have not been saved to the local Polaris database
- Allow the staff member to copy tags from the remote bibliographic record to a locally saved record

An error occurred while saving the comment Hi Phil,
To help me better understand the problem you're trying to solve: is the main priority of this enhancement to avoid giving staff the Modify Header permission when all they need to be able to do is change the circulation status? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Hi Steve,
You're correct that the ability to add items to a record set from a purchase order workform does not exist in Leap.
As a workaround you could do a search in the Item Record Find Tool and add items to a record set from there. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Hi Eleanor,
Would you share which fixed fields your catalogers want to directly edit and are unable to? The 006, 007, and 008 fields are all able to be directly edited in the MARC editor. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Hi Patti,
Since you mentioned the hold request workform, I recommend switching from the Satisfied By view to the History view when you're trying to find the item. That will show you the barcode of the item that is in transit. It doesn't hyperlink to the item so you'd need to copy and paste the barcode to get to the item record. -

Does the existing Missing functionality not fit your desired workflow because it removes the item from the Picklist? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Hi Aaron,
Would you provide an example of what edits you'd like to make to items via the API? It helps us to understand the request if we know what problem you're trying to solve or workflow you want to support by using the API. -

In regards to your curiosity question, it's been a very long time since that development work was done and my best guess is that the decision was made to label the ISBN and UPC options so they would be easily recognizable to non-catalogers. -

Have you tried using the Export action in record sets? That might help with getting the list formatted the way you would like and print from Excel instead of through the browser.
