More Robust Item Record Change History
It would be very helpful to have a more robust item record history. It appears that only the last 12 months of item history is available. It would be great if Polaris would:
A) keep the history of changes in the item record forever
B) improve the data that is stored and presented to staff, for example, so we could see what exactly was edited on 7-26-23 in the screenshot attached. Perhaps by clicking on the entry and having the information pop up.

We'd really like to see item history entries added when no circ status change is made. This helps us find the true 'last touch' on an item and thus find things that are missing, or identify what staff member is making a pattern of errors. I know that would greatly increase the length of Leap item histories, but that could be addressed by customers choosing a shorter time period to display.

Hi Gabrielle,
Yes, changing that setting to 9999 would be helpful, we are discussing it with our cataloging group now.
It would also be nice to have the history indicate more than "Modified by Cataloging." If it could indicate the type of change- collection, shelf location, price, home branch, material type, etc. that would be especially helpful.

Hi Liz,
Regarding the A portion of this idea, Polaris does allow configuration on the time threshold for item record history (the setting is found in Administration > Parameters > Cataloging). The maximum setting is 9,999 days which works out to roughly 27 years!
