This would ensure patrons can put holds on what they can actually checkout, by determiners like their patron type, checkout location and the item’s type. This would reduce frustration, failed requests, and staff intervention. For example, our corporate library collection can only be borrowed by patrons with a Corporate ptype. Currently when a title exists in both the Corporate and general collections and is available to borrow in the general collection, patrons retrieve an “unrequestable” message from Vega if they select to "Request any edition". This occurs correctly for patrons without the required Corporate ptype when they attempt to place a hold on the Corporate edition. Patrons with other ptypes can place a hold on the title by selecting “a specific edition” provided it is the copy held in the general collection.
