  1. : In its current configuration, a "display" shelf location can be used to indicate an item has been placed on display. However, changing this shelf location is a semi-permanent change and when the display comes down staff must change the location codes, either manually or through a record set, to the original location. Because displays are often very popular, this often results in items being checked out and returned.   2. From time to time, we have need to place all items on a record set on hold to call them in for a specific purpose. It would be great to have the ability to select all or some items within a record set and click a place hold button and then have the option to move the request for each of these items to the top of queue.

  3. I often get requests to have a pop-up for staff when last copy, or more especially a last copy with a hold, gets put into a status like withdrawn, missing, etc. It could provide a big head's up to selectors so they could preemptively tackle.

  4. We have different time frames for different patron codes. For example a regular adult or child card is two years. We have others, such as a visitor card that is three months and several others. We would like the system to automatically adjust the expiration date to a pre-determined time frame set for each code.

  5. SimplyReports offers only one format when downloading the results of a report, and that is a questionably formatted xls file that always throws a warning when opening in Microsoft Excel. Microsoft left the xls format behind almost 15 years ago when they launched the xlsx format in Excel 2007.   6. For collection development purposes, we need to know how popular an item is. Right now, renewals from the same patron counts as a circ. It would help to have renewals counted separately so that we can have an accurate circulation stat. For example, our YA Manga (33090005890258) shows that lifetime circulation is 5 but it's actually 2 patron checkouts with 3 renewals. This number makes it seem that this manga is more popular than it is. New items are easier to count right now but as time passes, looking at the history will become more time consuming.

  7. Record sets that are owned by staff remain in the system forever if those owners don't clean them up. We would like Administrators to have co-ownership of those sets.

  8. The "Recent" tab in the Leap Workform Tracker lists recently-accessed patron, item, and bibliographic records. Now that additional record types are available in Leap, it would be helpful to have additional record types listed in the "Recent" tab, including but not limited to:InvoicesPurchase OrdersRecord Sets

  9. In LEAP, please add the ability for a user to create a bibliographic record set from a file of ISBNs or Control Numbers..

    LEAP can create item record sets using an 'add from file' option that uploads item records by barcode - and LEAP can create a patron record set by uploading a file of Patron IDs.

  10. Currently in Leap there is no equivalent Bibliographic Title search to the "Exact match (implicitly truncated)" in the Polaris Client. The Leap search "Bibliographic>BasicSearch>Title>Exact ()" doesn't utilize the Initial Articles entries in the Bib record so any title search with a "The" or "A" or "An" in the title are not returned in the search results. This has caused a push back to adoption since the very real perception is that Leap has inferior search capabilities. I'm not sure why the the "Bib Exact ()" search requires staff to strip out the A, An & The initial article…

  11. Currently item barcodes are not included on the billing notices. We double check the shelves for billed items prior to mailing the bill to the patron. Often we have multiple copies of the item. To ensure that the bill is accurate and the items are truly missing, we have to take the other copies to the circulation desk and double check their status. This is time consuming, inefficient and occurs frequently. Item barcodes are include on the overdue notices. I would like to see them included on the billing notice too.

  12. We would like an optional field in the patron record for preferred pronouns. This field should be available at the top of all patron registration views near Last name, First name, Title etc. It should be available to display on the Patron Status and Check-out screens via System Administration under Parameters, Patron Services, Check-out: Optional patron data. We would also like to be able to display it on phone notices, but not mailers.

  14. It would be incredibly useful for our patrons if we could still allow item-level holds from the PAC for those items which are not serials or multi-part sets. We want to limit holds for serials and multi-parts using the current functionality in Polaris because it will serve our patrons better, but other functionality should not be taken away in order to do so.

    At best, the method and workflow used to bulk import patrons into Polaris (often referred to as student import) is archaic. The Polaris documentation for this process, Importing Student Records as Patron Records, is 19 pages long and seven of those pages are definitions and descriptions for the format of a pipe delimited file. This file contains 65 separate columns, all of which must be included in the file even if they contain no information.   16. In Polaris staff have the ability to tap ENTER to close a check out. In Leap, staff must select COMPLETE with the mouse to close the transaction.

  17. Optionally prevent renewals from going through the same day an item is checked out (applied to items with loan periods of more than 1 day).

    Increasingly libraries are using self-checkouts and RFID circulation stations. Both patrons and staff members can unintentionally rescan items that have just been checked out, using up one or more renewal, just by having the items too near the scanner pad. This would prevent accidents that use up available renewals and lead to confused patrons and staff!

  18. Add an option based on material type that allows the customer to reserve an item for a certain time frame. For example, if the item type is book club kit, they can reserve a title in June for a meeting in October. For greater flexibility, we'd like to control how far in advance they can book the item based on material type. We'd be interested in using this for book club kits, laptops, and other types of kits that we have or might add.

  19. The process for deleting authorities is very time intensive. The process should work like deleting item or bib records and allow for not being notified for blocking/non-blocking notes. There should also be a default for how to handle deleted authorities, flip, unlink, etc. This would make the process much easier and quicker.

  20. Allow a local cover image to override cover art provided by an enhanced content vendor, or to display when there is no image available from the vendor.

    Not all enhanced content vendors allow the submission of local images. When a cover image is incorrect, it may take a while for it to be corrected, if it can be. (If a publisher reuses an ISBN, who knows what cover will display.) Also, sometimes the only way to keep incorrect cover art from displaying is to remove valid data from the bibliographic record.
