In many cases, the character spacing we use when cataloging in Korean is not the same as the character spacing someone searching in Korean will use, even though the meaning is the same in these cases despite the differences in spacing. The spacing we use when cataloging is dictated by Library of Congress rules, however, a Korean speaker won't know those rules and will type the search in the way that makes sense to them.

For example, 한 권 (with a space) and 한권 (without a space) mean the same thing, and 외워 봤니 (with a space) and 외워봤니 (without a space) do too, but only one way is correct according to LC rules. However, we want our Korean patrons to be able to find titles whichever way they are searching. The old PAC takes this into account and spaces do not affect searching in Korean, but in Discover the patron has to search for Korean titles with the exact same spacing as they are cataloged with, otherwise they will retrieve no results.

Please make keyword searching in Korean to be 'space-agnostic' like it is in the PAC and Polaris, so that patrons retrieve the materials that they are searching for when they exist in the collection.
