This feature is also needed in the duplicate detection screen. When a duplicate is detected, it should have the compare option right there, rather than having to cancel the duplicate detection and then doing a manual search in the compare option to find the same record the system already flagged for you.

I always use the Standard Identifier search in the client - it saves a lot of time when I'm switching between books and DVDs or other materials that use a UPC instead of an ISBN. As the main post says, if you have the search set to IBSN and pop in a UPC, you won't get results, so you have to be double checking you have it set properly. Having a standard identifier option would eliminate this issue.

Yes, especially in consortia, where multiple libraries' items might be on the same bib - being able to separate them out with record sets would be helpful.

Adding this would bring parity with the client - currently if you import in the client, a 020$z does NOT match and overwrite an existing bib with a 020$a or another 020$z that has the same ISBN. We have taken advantage of this by having 020$z IBSNs listed for the individual items in a kit, without risking overwrites if there is a new import of one of the individual titles. But an IBSN search will still bring up the kit because it contains that title.
