Create Bib Record Set by uploading file of Control #s
In LEAP, please add the ability for a user to create a bibliographic record set from a file of ISBNs or Control Numbers..
Idea Value
LEAP can create item record sets using an 'add from file' option that uploads item records by barcode - and LEAP can create a patron record set by uploading a file of Patron IDs.
We would like to have a similar function that allows us to create a bibliographic record set by uploading a file of ISBNs or Control Numbers.

Agreed - ISBNs are not unique enough in the records that have them and also not present in most bib records for media so the usefulness of this feature is limited as long as that's the only option.
Ideally we'd love to be able to have a choice on which field to use in the import (OCLC number would be great) but if we only have one or two to choose from, bib control number is going to have wider application for our system than ISBN. -

In Polaris Leap 7.7, you cannot use Leap to import a list of bibliographic record IDs into a bibliographic record set. The import feature only accepts ISBNs. While I understand why ISBNs might be an option for an import criteria, they shouldn't be the only option.
* A bibliographic record need not have an ISBN. And if it does not have an ISBN, it can't be imported at all using this feature.
* An ISBN might be shared by other bibliographic records, which means that those other bib records might show up in the record set, even if the operator doesn't want them to.
* The bibliographic control number is meant to be a clear and unique identifier for an individual bibliographic record, which is exactly why it should be the primary criteria for a bibliographic record import.
Someone using this ISBN import feature could accidentally and unknowingly pull in bibliographic records they do not want to alter or delete. This could lead to data pollution or, even worse, data loss. When I discovered this feature, I was working with a library that has over 1,600 bibliographic records that share ISBNs. As things go, I'll be discouraging library staff from using this feature or, at the very least, double-checking everything they add to a record set using this feature.
Please add bibliographic record ID to the import criteria for bibliographic record sets and make it the default option for data importing.

The ISBN upload is really nice, but we would still like to be able to bulk add by control number as well. Our ISBNs just aren't quite clean enough to consistently be able to rely on them.

We plan to have a partial implementation of this in Polaris 7.6 with the ability to add to a bib record set by ISBN.

This would be very beneficial! There are times that we get a list of bibs from SQL Server Management Studio and we have no way to get them into a record set. The SQL query used is too large for the SQL search box in the client/Leap so outputting into a record set that way does not work. Thanks!
