Call Number drop into the Classification field in the Item Record
Have the Call Number (082 #a) drop into the Classification field in the Item Record when the item moves from On Order to Received.
This function would most benefit staff who catalogue (or import full catalogue records) and then manage the Purchase Order process.
The goal is to reduce the room for error when adding items.

Thanks Erin, we have checked and have the settings you describe below turned on.
To clarify; when we overwrite the basic EDI MARC records that come with On-Order Items embedded, the now correct 082 tag in the full MARC does not transfer into the item record. Meaning that we have to type it into each Item record (along with adding barcodes etc) after Receiving them.
It would be great if the 082 could be automatically updated in each Item Record on saving the MARC.

I thought there was already a setting for this? To pull the call number from the bib into the item record? But maybe I''m not fully understanding. From help:
Copy Bibliographic Call Numbers to Item Records
To automatically copy call number fields from linked bibliographic records (according to the settings in the Item Create Call Number Hierarchy database table):In the Administration Explorer tree view, expand the folder for the organization, staff member or workstation.
Select Profiles and select the Cataloging tab.
Select Bring call number fields from bib to item record when link is made and set the profile to Yes or No.
Yes - When an item record is created for the organization, if there are call numbers in the linked bibliographic record, the numbers are copied to the item record. The system checks for the call number information in fields in the bibliographic record according to the hierarchy set in the Item Create Call Number Hierarchy database table. See Modify the Item Create Call Number Hierarchy table.
No - When an item record is created for the organization, the classification and cutter numbers in the linked bibliographic record are not copied to the item record.
Select File > Save.
