Currently if you have pre-coordinated authority records that are not established editorially, the individual SH will be imported but will not link to the appropriate bib record without changing the pre-coordinated SH to the base-phrase.
Example, if I have the SH 650 _0 southwestern flycatcher $x conservation and want to link southwestern flycatcher to the $a and have the appropriate SH the system will prompt me to change the SH in the bib from 650 _0 southwestern flycatcher $x conservation to 650 _0 southwestern flycatcher. Likewise, if I try to link the free-floating pattern heading $x conservation I will be prompted to change the full pre-coordinated SH to just $x conservation.
I like the specificity of pre-coordinated SH but do not have the time to individually create an authority for each SH string our catalog has. I would appreciate being able to link each part of a pre-coordinated subject heading to the appropriate authority without having to create the full string in-house.
