Vega Admin setting to restrict patron code access to third-party content
Offer a setting in Vega Admin to restrict access to third-party content (e.g., CloudLibrary) by patron code, such as controlling visibility and/or buttons to place holds and checkout.
Problem
The vendor records are ingested into Vega, but access restrictions enforced in the vendor’s app and website are not applied in Vega. As a result, certain patron codes can still place holds and check out digital items. When they visit the vendor's app/website, they are not granted access to the item.
These patron codes:
Are not permitted to access our digital library (e.g., CloudLibrary).
Are permitted to use the catalog and self-checkout machines. This would be blocked if we use the Patron Initiated Circulation Blocking Conditions in the Polaris Client.
Impact
This mismatch leads to patron confusion and frustration when they’re unable to access the vendor's items they’ve checked out, resulting in a poor user experience and increased support needs.
