Allow the update of the contact method when editing an email of a hard bounce that has changed the method to phone.
When updating a patron email with a hard bounce, allow the contact method to be changed back to email.
Hi Janet,
Thank you for your suggestion.
When an email address hard bounces, LX Starter requires you to update the email address to save any changes to the contact method. This security measure ensures that emails reach patrons’ inboxes and protects your domain.
Even if you revert the contact method to email, LX Starter will not send emails to addresses that have previously hard bounced. This is to maintain the integrity of your domain and ensure successful email delivery to other patrons. This is why we won't be making a change to this editing flow at this time.
As a workaround, you can modify the email address by adding a “+1” (e.g., test@test.com to test+1@test.com). This bypasses the hard bounce alert and allows you to save the changes. If the email bounces again, you can increment the number (e.g., +2, +3). However, please use this method cautiously, as repeated bounces may lead to your domain being flagged as spam by email providers like Gmail and Yahoo.
I hope this helps.
Best regards,
Taylor
