    We had this very problem with one of our libraries in California. They needed a report based on You Saved data and it came back that a couple of patrons had saved millions of dollars because a couple of books were in the system with six digit prices. It threw off the You Saved amounts for multiple patrons.

    I rather like how Evergreen ILS handles this. Each note is a separate entity. Notes can have titles to go with the note's content and every note is timestamped and tagged with the username of the creator. They can be categorized and made to appear only at certain levels. Notes can be removed, but they can also be archived. An archived note doesn't appear to anyone unless a staff member specifically goes looking for archived notes. Honestly, it's the best system I've seen for patron notes.

    YES. Yes yes yes. I was just talking to someone on the Discord about how I could write a SQL job based off a tiny hack that looked for a standardized, tagged date in a blocking note. Thing is, I wouldn't need to hack anything if the notes just had a timestamp.

    @Eric Young

    I really should do a quick audit of some of these reports, and see what the libraries use on the regular to check and see how accurate those reports are. This is literally a "no data is better than wrong data" situation.

    At the very least, someone could write the query or create the report in Report Builder and then send that to everyone. We did that a few times back at a former library for the same exact reason. Everyone was using Polaris, so here's how we all get the same numbers, apples to apples.

    Eleanor is on to something right there with that timed challenge comment. It'd be great if there were, for lack of a better term, a Report Store - like an app store. I can kind of see something like the Software Boutique in Ubuntu MATE where someone can go look for a report, check out the code, vote on it, view comments, and if they like it they just click a couple things and add it to their system.

    That'd be fantastic, and such a powerful way to share information between libraries!

    I like what Sarah St. Martin has to say below - about being able to use your own images. That'd be an absolute game changer for spine labels and it'd get libraries out of the habit of buying stickers. Printing a custom icon, or an emoji, on the spine label will save money for the library and decrease the amount of paper used throughout the organization.
