   I like being able to add information from a newer vendor record before merging, but I have been caught by this problem a few times. Having that reminder would be very useful!

   Adding a fake barcode so that patrons can place holds is time-consuming and frustrating. It is also not well documented, so libraries new to Polaris have trouble understanding why their patrons cannot place holds on certain items. Why do items with volume numbers need barcodes when they aren't required for placing holds on items without volume numbers?
