I'd also like to be able to either filter and/or sort by patron name or barcode. I have suggested the ability to sort other columns as a separate enhancement request at https://ideas.iii.com/forums/951985-lx-starter/suggestions/46776901-offer-sorting-options-for-notice-activity-logs

Yes, for us 31% of our physical circ is DVDs, Blu-rays, and Console Games, for which Syndetics can typically pull cover images successfully for our catalog using their UPCs.

Having design control over this notice as well as a welcome message to new patrons are the primary reasons we are interested in using LX Starter.

I could be wrong but I had assumed this is what the merge tag {{item_total_owed}} did. Have you already tried that?
It may depend on your ILS configurations, but as long as your system has billed their account for the replacement cost of the item, I would think that's what would display when you add a merge tag for the amount owed for that item.
I very much agree with Eric that all users should have the option to enable MFA. I can't think of any advantage to limiting that option to only some users, especially since it's not just super admin roles with access to patron data.
SSO is a great suggestion as well, though I'm sure that would be a much more complicated solution to implement and I'd rank MFA as a higher priority.
