Ability to send test message with data pulled from the ILS
The key functional feature of the notice templates are merge tags. When sending a test message, the most important thing you would want to be testing is whether merge tags are displaying correctly. However, since dummy data is used in the test notices, the test notices don't allow you to assess if your merge tags are working or not. It would be really nice if test emails could be sent with data pulled from the customer's ILS so we could see if our merge tags were working.

I just sent 1,000 hold pickup notices with no item information. The "TESTS" I sent to myself displayed all of the information perfectly. An actual test would have clued me into the issue with the merge tags.

We have a test database and have always been able to test any changes we have made to wording in our notices or any new functionality (like autorenewing) with our own data. Being able to do something similar with LX Starter would be most helpful and as others have stated, we'd feel more comfortable knowing what customers are seeing

To add to what Eric says about length, etc., if we knew what the max. character count was for the fields, that would be helpful.

I would like to add that, currently, the test notice feature only shows a preview of one item with limited data. This makes it difficult for us to design our templates and format our notices correctly.
We would like to have the ability to change the item that is previewed, or to see multiple items with different data, using ILS data can help get this done. Specifically, we need to see items with longer titles, authors, barcodes, call numbers, and other details that may affect the layout and appearance of the notice.
This enhancement would help us create more accurate and professional-looking notices for our customers. It would also save us time and effort from having to edit our designs after publishing.

This would make editing and testing the notices so much easier, and dramatically improve our confidence in what our designs will look like.

Yes, I updated the Bill to include the individual replacement cost and processing fee (for each item), but when I sent the test for approval, people were confused because the test uses $10 for the total bill and $10 for the item and $5 for the processing fee, vs. the real costs and real total bill. I had to explain this multiple times.
