An error occurred while saving the comment Margaret Rose O'Keefe commentedThis part especially for us: "When items are suppressed in an older work because of being lost, damaged, missing, or withdrawn, it also doesn't make sense that the title should show up in Vega as On Order as this may not be true!"
We don't have "order records" as we are a consortium - we only have "on order items" so if we were to extrapolate from that, then an "order record" would be any record for which all items attached were in a status of "Being Acquired" or "In-Process".

An error occurred while saving the comment Margaret Rose O'Keefe commentedDefinitely! We have a lot of older records that don't have summaries, but sometimes Syndetics will have those summaries instead, and in the old PAC, patrons could see those Syndetics summaries. We have Syndetics Unbound in both places, so I'm not sure why we can't see summaries in Vega.

An error occurred while saving the comment Margaret Rose O'Keefe commentedThere are many examples of when the name of an author/contributor as pictured on the item, listed in the 245 $c, is different from the version in the authorized 1xx or 7xx field. As such, the 245 $c needs to be indexed for searching, since that is what patrons are more likely to search by - they have no idea about authorized versions of names in LC, much less what they would be for any given author/contributor. Additionally, a recent example illustrated to us that even when they are very close to what the authorized name is, they could still miss finding what they need - searching "AJ Pearce" as pictured on the item doesn't retrieve the same results as when searching "A. J. Pearce", which is the authorized version. A patron wouldn't know this.
