  1. In our system we have different Patron Codes for different ages. This allows us to differentiate services in the library to patrons of different ages. Occasionally, during the registration process (we exclusively use Leap) staff will forget to assign the correct Patron Code based on the new patron's age. If the system was able to auto-assign Patron Codes based on the inputted Birthdate, it would greatly reduce human error.

  2. Please allow the checkout screen in Leap to be sorted/alphabetized by clicking any of the header columns, Title in particular. This is currently something that can be done in the Polaris client, and is useful for library staff when checking out large amounts of books to patrons who would like an alphabetized list of what they've just checked out. The columns in Leap appear to be clickable for sorting, but they currently are not.

  3. One piece of feedback we've gotten is that staff members who are used to the client miss the ability to open and rearrange a bunch of windows from the find tools (for side-by-side comparison, or just for managing workflows). We're wondering if this experience could be recreated by allowing the option to open multiple results in new tabs from the find tool in Leap.

  4. We would like the ability to do stacked sorting in searches and record sets. This would allow the user to sort by one aspect and then another with it stacked (eg. sorting by pub date and then call number, so you see items within a call number in pub date order). In both searches and record sets, it only seems to sort by the current choice, meaning the way it's sorted within that one type is random (or alphabetical by title, which isn’t always the most useful).

  5. When I am working in a long record set and open an item record and then close it again, it returns me to the top of the record set. I would really like it to return me to where I was in the list to more easily continue my work.

  6. It seems unnecessary to force the Polaris Username field to begin with a letter. We would love for the Username field to have the ability to begin with any character.

  7. It would be useful to have a pop-up alert for notes to patrons that are important, but not so urgent we need to block their record. This would mean that when staff scanned their card at check out, there would be an obvious pop-up to alert them of a message, rather than relying on them noticing a colour change to the Notes link.

  8. Currently, a library may limit an item to be holdable for pickup at a single branch location. This setting allows the item to be limited to pick up at the item's assigned branch only. While this feature may work for single-branch libraries, it does not function in a practical way for multi-branch libraries. Expanding this feature to have a library-level option would increase the usability of this setting.

Example 1: Library A has 3 branches. They want to make their mobile hotspots holdable for pickup at any of their 3 branches. They do not want their hotspots to be placed…

  9. Many of our patrons are on autopilot when checking out their materials at our expresschecks. There are times patrons while scanning, accidentally scan the wrong barcode (isbn barcode) rather than our libraries' created barcodes for checkout. Staff in our library system have requested there be a way to differentiate barcode scanning sounds of a normal checkout beep to some sort of indicator/sound letting the patron know something is wrong in the checkout process.

  10. We currently run our lost and not paid reports under Patron Account > Patron Account List Reports in SimplyReports. Because shelf-location is not an output option, we manually enter it for each item in order for our shelvers to more easily complete shelf-checks. Can "shelf-location" be added as a report output option?

  11. The ability to bulk change Held Until dates would allow library staff to perform this task themselves in a timely manner, rather than having to submit a ticket to Innovative.

  12. Support for patrons to designate a pickup area or a location within the library where the patron would like to retrieve their holds (e.g., curbside, smart locker, drive thru). Current workflows require creating a new branch for tracking additional pickup locations.

  13. When sorting by a column, then choosing an item and hitting located, it resets the sort back to the default.

This is not ideal at our larger locations who may be pulling dozens of items at a time.

  14. We use shared Windows logins at our service points so it's easy for a staff member who was working in the back or out on the floor to quickly hop on a desk and help a patron. However, for obvious reasons each staff member has their own Polaris credentials. Staff are constantly tempted to perform transactions while logged in as a colleague because they have a patron standing in front of them waiting. It would be nice if an inactivity timeout could be added to Leap so that staff would be forced to sign in as themselves in situations like…

  15. Currently printing receipts from the Leap web app is unideal, requiring either significant manual intervention from the user or extensive browser tweaks to get it operable. A background desktop client (similar to JSPrintManager) could handle the printing far better than the browser does natively.

  16. I cannot think of a situation where, if I have a record set containing more than 250 items, it would be okay to proceed with doing things in that record set without loading in all of the items. It is typical to need to take a similar action on all items in large record sets but very challenging due to the 250 at a time limit. I just had to scroll and click more 27 times before I could embark on a bulk change. There should be a load all button.

  17. We often have branches close unexpectedly due to facilities issues, when this happens we need to move the Held items from that branch to another branch. Currently there is no way to bulk change the pickup location between branches. This function would be very helpful for us.

  18. It would be very useful for patron notes to automatically include date and time - this would allow us to track "updates" to progressive situations with patrons that multiple staff are addressing.

  19. Allow users to sort checked-in items by clicking on the column headers on the check-in screen in Leap.

Library staff double check their work by counting the number of items on their check-in cart and comparing it with the item count displayed on the check-in screen. If there is a discrepancy, being able to sort the columns would help staff more easily find items that didn't get checked in properly.

Also, please add a call number column to the check-in screen.

  20. Currently, patrons receive a default email message when their hold is cancelled. It would be great for staff to have the ability to enter a reason or write a brief message letting the patron know why their hold was cancelled.
