  1. We would like to enhance /PolarisAdmin (Web Admin) so that leading and trailing spaces are automatically trimmed from the Username and External ID fields upon entry.

    Problem Statement
Currently, if administrators accidentally enter a username or external ID with a leading or trailing space, it is saved as entered. This creates login and authentication issues for end users, since the system considers the space a part of the credential. This can be difficult to troubleshoot and frustrating for both administrators and end users.

This is especially likely to happen when copying/pasting from certain user management platforms.

    Proposed Enhancement
    Automatically strip…

  2. When changing settings, it is critical to make sure you're changing them in the right place.

The /PolarisAdmin should also pick up the color coding and client alerts. Currently, the /PolarisAdmin does NOT pickup the client color changes or wording, which means you need to do extra work to make sure you are changing the settings in the proper system.

  3. When you are adding an account or changing information on an account and the system detects a duplicate, it won't let you proceed. However, it won't give you any information on the conflict account.

It would be super helpful to have the conflicting ID shown in the popup message to make tracking down the other account easier.

Especially if the dup happens to be because of something weird like a space or non-printable character.

This seems to happen more as locations move to SSO and fill in their external ID field.

  4. Currently to use SMTP the account has to support basic authentication which is not secure and is being deprecated by Microsoft for Azure accounts. In the next few months, Microsoft will be enforcing MFA on Azure accounts in phases and the only way around that for things like SMTP is to use OAuth. Since the current version does not allow OAuth authentication for SMTP, this will cause notification services that use email to stop functioning.

Allowing the option to use OAuth to authenticate SMTP would resolve this issue and allow users with Microsoft Tenants to continue using notification services.

  5. We occasionally need to document the use and purpose of special staff accounts. Mostly we do this to make sure they don't accidentally get deleted.

Historically we did this by using the email address field on the staff account. Now in PolarisAdmin (Web) it enforces email address formatting rules in that field so we can no longer use that field.

This was always a hacky work around. It would be better to have a notes field on polaris user staff accounts like patrons do. It should be up front and in your face though and not hidden behind menus. Again…

  7. When staff log out of Leap at the end of their shift, Microsoft prompts them to sign out of their Microsoft account. I think it confuses staff, they click on the prompt and then they get logged out of their Microsoft account. They then have to log back in and due to MFA need to get a code to log back in. This isn't ideal.
Customer support said currently this behavior is how Leap with OAuth/SSO works. Leap uses the identity provider to control the login and logout when setup with OAuth/SSO. Can you place an enhancement request to see…

  11. Staff often forget to properly log out of Leap which leaves object locks on any records they had open when they closed the browser. It would be helpful if there was a setting to automatically remove object locks after a specified number of hours/days.

  12. Many of the keyboard shortcuts that are in the Polaris client are not found in Leap. This is harder for people with difficulties switching between the keyboard and mouse. We have a user who would love to have access to these keyboard shortcuts in leap that, if turned on or added, would make Leap linking much more intuitive and ergonomic.

    The staff member said:

    • Ctrl-S would be fantastic
    • A shortcut to simply close a record, as exists in the form of Alt-F4 in Polaris.

    Those are the big ones.

Any others that can be turned on or created specifically for…
