Request to Increase Character Limit in Announcements
The current 250-character limit in Vega Discover's announcement feature significantly restricts our ability to convey essential, detailed information in a single message. This limitation is particularly challenging when addressing complex situations that impact multiple services. Our public relations team is compelled to create multiple, shortened versions of the same announcement to fit this constraint, leading to an inefficient communication process that does not align with the capabilities of modern CMS platforms.
Increasing the character limit to at least 500 characters is a necessary enhancement. It will enable us to deliver comprehensive and clear messages without the need for creating multiple versions. A higher character limit will improve the overall user experience by providing complete and accessible information in a single announcement. This adjustment will bring Vega Discover in line with standard communication practices in similar platforms and is essential for streamlining our communication processes.

- A colored background isn't a long form reading design.
- Longer messages are less likely to be read.
- Longer messages move content lower on the page and requires more scrolling.
- For longer/more complex messages the best practice is a short message that links to another page/press announcement with more details for in-depth issues. For example, this message is concise and fits the 250 character limit:
