  1. Serials Holding Records - remove any closed patterns from the find tool search results.

We close a pattern in the Serial Holding Record when we are reducing the number of copies, or a serial has ceased publication.

It would be helpful if these closed patterns don't appear in the 'Find Tool - Serial Holdings Record' search return list.

I believe we can already support this as of Polaris 7.7, where we added sticky Find Tool filters. If you setup your Find Tool filters to have "Is Active" = Yes, then click the star icon to save this as your search default, that will automatically filter out any closed/completed serial holdings records.

And making it part of your defaults means it will automatically be filtered every time you search, so you don't have to remember to keep filtering.

  2. We have Polaris integrated with Teller to process patron payments. Within Teller, we would like to use Polaris patron credits as a form of payment. We have been talking to Teller about this, and we believe this can be achieved by getting patron credit information via the API. At present, the API only returns charges owed by a patron, not any credits a patron may have.

  3. We do not use OCLC or INN-reach for interlibrary loan resource sharing, we use another third party service, so we have patrons fill out ILL requests using a Google form that we then review to see if it's available.

It would be ideal if, upon receiving the item they requested, we could create an ILL on-the-fly record and put it on hold for the patron without having to download a bib record, put a hold request on it, convert the request to an ILL request, and so on.

OCLC and INN-Reach are not requirements to use the ILL module in Polaris. You can still create ILL requests, which will automatically spawn brief bibs and items that are automatically deleted when the ILL request has been processed.

I think maybe the step missing based on the workflow you described is the unlocked hold request:https://documentation.iii.com/leap/8.0/Default.htm#LEAP1_0/Requests/UnlockHold.htm?Highlight=unlocked

You don't need to download a bib. If you unlock the hold request form, you can type directly into the request fields with details about the ILL request. Then save the unlocked hold and convert to an ILL request to generate the brief records.

  4. After running a Record Set sometimes I find the need to refine my search. It would be really nice to have the ability to backtrack to the search parameters to make needed changes then rerun the search in lieu of starting over.

This should be possible with the recent searches feature added to the Find Tool in Polaris 7.7.

The search filters applied are saved as part of the recent search string. If you're creating a record set from the Find Tool, then realize you need to refine you search, when you return to the Find Tool you should be able to pull up the recent search without needing to start over.

You may need to clear/delete your record set if you already populated it. I read this enhancement as being more focused on having to re-create the search filters/criteria, but let me know if that was incorrect.

  5. When searching in Leap, sometimes I need to take all of the search results and add them to a Record Set. I wish I had a select all button. In stead I have to individually select every single record to be added. This would save me so much time!

  6. The ability to edit patron information—such as custom data fields or core registration details like name and email—without requiring the patron’s PIN or password would be highly beneficial. While using a Record Set to bulk edit standardized fields (e.g., expiration date or User1–User5) is extremely helpful, it doesn't cover all use cases.
For example, we regularly receive updated information from our partner school, including address changes. Currently, the inability to programmatically update these records creates workflow bottlenecks and limits our efficiency in maintaining accurate patron data.

  7. When printing the Picklist, we would like the current date and the page numbers to be printed.

This would be helpful for us when we go back to look for items other staff members did not find. Also, if the date is there, we can identify if the list we are working is today’s list or if someone left an old list laying around.

  8. I polaris both account expiration and adress check dated had an option of just adding 1 year (or other period you choose) to a current date. In Leap only adress chech still has that option and account expiration date is pure manual, which takes longer to set each time. It would be nice to have that line of adding a chosen period to the current date back there.

  9. Currently, the quick search bar does not do allow ISBN searching. It would be helpful to be able to scan an ISBN in the quick search bar and have the bib record pop-up, like what happens with item records when a barcode is scanned.

  10. The new QZ tray receipt printing in 7.8 is a great "leap" forward for Leap printing. However, it does not support Star receipt printers, and you cannot add support for them via a configuration of QZ or within Leap.

Since Star receipt printers are supported in Polaris: https://iii.rightanswers.com/portal/app/portlets/results/viewsolution.jsp?solutionid=160930969880949

This is a request that support for them be added to the QZ Tray receipt printing.

PS You can switch Star printer to support Epson commands as shown here: https://forum.innovativeusers.org/t/star-receipt-printers-not-supported-in-star-line-mode-with-qz-tray-switching-to-esc-pos-emulation/2566

  12. When you're scanning items into a record set in the client, and you scan (or mis-scan) an item that doesn't match an existing barcode, it returns an error: "No matching item record was found." When you're scanning items into a record set in Leap, though, you get no error message. If you're not paying close attention, you would assume the item was successfully added.

Ideally a red toast like the "This record set already contains this record" message (or the "no matching item record" message that pops up when doing inventory) would appear.

  13. Make full-screen editing more easily usable. One example: deleting multiple fields at once.

Make it possible to add fields ANYWHERE, not only after a similar type of field (i.e. fixed fields--why can't I add them anywhere?).

  14. Catalogers have been waiting since January 2020 for MARC field 532 - Accessibility Note to be included in the MARC bibliographic validation table. This MARC change was approved by LC in 2018 and has been showing up in AV records ever since. Catalogers see a "not defined" error message when saving a record which includes an unvalidated field.

Currently we may only add a local MARC tac to the validation table (eg 9XX, X9X or XX9). Otherwise, it must wait for the LC MARC bibliographic update to be implemented by Polaris development in a new Polaris version. We now hear…

We rely on the MARC updates from LC to notify us of changes to the standard that need to be incorporated into the code. I can't speak to why LC approved this particular example in 2018 but didn't include it officially until 2023.

But I can say that because all of our MARC validation rules are stored in the database, it's possible for you to get patches of the latest MARC updates at any time. After seeing this request, we setup a process with our Support team to ensure they know the location of the latest MARC update scripts and can apply them to your server on request.

We process MARC updates at the start of each Polaris release, and you do not need to wait for the release to be GA to receive a patch for those updates. For example, we currently have patches available for Updates 39 &…

  15. Each library often has several institutional library cards and our consortium also has institutional cards to use for our statewide ILL system. It would be nice if there was a way when creating and managing institution cards to be able to block them from having fines (overdues, specifically) applied to them as these cards would only be used by the library and our consortium policy does ask us to not waive other library's fines.

  17. Please change the wording for the pop-up message when there are holdable and non-holdable items on the same bib record. It's confusing for staff, and makes them think that they have to figure out an alternate way to place a hold for their patron - when in reality, the hold can go through, and will be added to the appropriate library's picklist. (The example I saw from my staff was a bib record that had a single reference (non-holdable) item on it, and a number of other holdable/circulating items. The screenshot attached is the message staff received.)

  18. This is about a manual adjustment of the Sales Tax amount. Before we pay our invoices, charges (processing, shipping etc.) are added, then as a last step the Sales Tax according to the paper invoice. When the tax entry is saved, suddenly the Client shows a different amount, which is either a little over or under. According to the help section this is fixed by going into an Invoice Line Item Segment and manually adjust the shown Sales Tax, which fixes the Total Sales Tax shown in the Charges. Leap does not allow Invoice Line Item Segment tax adjustments, so…

  20. Acquisitions - need the ability to limit/filter search to Fiscal Year of Suppliers for Invoices or Purchase Orders. Currently, if we look at a Suppliers order history, or invoices, we see everything since we migrated to Polaris.
Sometimes, we need to see how much we are spending with a specific vendor and/or need to see an on-order list with a supplier.

I believe this is already supported in Leap, but please let me know if I'm misunderstanding. The Leap PO and Invoice Find Tools have filters for both Supplier and Fiscal Year, so you can quickly limit the results to a specific supplier in a specific FY.
