Cancel an in-transit hold
It would be beneficial to have the option of cancelling a hold for which the filling item has already moved to an in-transit status. This way, once the item is received at the destination, when it is checked in instead of going on the holds shelf it would either fill the next applicable hold or go in-transit back to the owning library.

Emma's comment is correct. This is possible if "Permit cancellation on Shipped status" is enabled in the Hold Options dialog in system administration. When this option is enabled, staff and patrons will be able to cancel requests where an item is in-transit to fill the hold. And as described in the idea, the hold will be routed to fill another hold request or routed back to the assigned branch.

Hi Jennifer, do you want staff to be able to do this, or patrons? I think there is a system administration setting that allows patrons to do it under Administration-->Explorer-->System-->Parameters-->Request-->Hold options-->Staff client & PAC-->Permit cancellation on....
