subject headings to browse
Polaris Leap--Be able to use subject headings to browse/search while in Leap without having to go into the PAC.

Samantha - Yes, we were clicking from the PAC view. I will show staff the Headings view, though the Headings view only seems to work to view the associated bib records for a heading if we have an authority record loaded for that subject heading, whereas the subject heading browse works even if there is no authority record.

Sarah - Are they clicking on the subject heading from the PAC preview? Within Leap, if the user is viewing a bibliographic record and looking for similar subjects, the Headings view might be a better option than the PAC Preview view. From the Headings view, they can see all the subjects listed on the bibliographic record and clicking on them will open the authority record with all linked bibliographic records. Unless staff don't have access to view the authority records? (Which might explain the PAC workaround).

I was just asked about this by a coworker. The desired behavior would be to click on a subject heading and have it execute a search in Leap for other records with that subject heading. Currently clicking the subject heading redirects you to the public catalog when staff are more likely to want to keep working in Leap. Ideally, clicking on a subject heading link would open the Find Tool in Leap and execute a subject search of bib records with that subject heading. Right now you have to copy and paste the subject heading to search in Leap for other records.

Keyword searches bring up subject headings, right?

Ashley- Can you elaborate more on what the desired behavior is here? Describe what the workflow might look in an ideal world. Are you thinking a browse option in the Find Tool?
