change patron record creation prompt order
Patron record creation is currently ordered: telephone, email, text message number. Changing it to be: telephone, text message number, email would make it easier.
1 voteLibraries can control the order of prompts in record templates in Sierra.
The order in which the field is prompted in the wizard is determined by the order in which the field appears in the variable-length area of the template. You can change the order in which these fields should be prompted in the wizard by right-clicking the field(s) and using Move Up or Move Down.
More information is available in the Sierra online documentation:https://documentation.iii.com/sierrahelp/Default.htm#sgil/sgil_settings_template_create.html

Utilize 532 and 341 field in Sierra to provide accessibility information to print disabled patrons.
As a result of the Marrakesh treaty, two new MARC field were created to create accessibility tags in public catalogue records for print disabled patrons. However these fields do not seem to be functional in Sierra yet. I suggest implementing these tags to improve service to print disable patrons. I am attaching a PDF of a record from the National Network for Equitable Library Services which uses the tag as an example.

Allow staff to toggle between printing and not printing a date due slip
When checking out a patron within Sierra, it would be best if the staffer could easily toggle between offering a paper date due slip, an email slip or no slip. This functionality seems to have gone away.
10 votesThis feature exists in Sierra today, but you have to have a print template enabled for the login in order to use the email option.

Merge duplicate bib records
Can we please have a function to merge bib records? For many reasons libraries end up with duplicate bib records. Currently the only way "merge" a bib is to manually transfer any attached records one by one. This is a cumbersome and inefficient workflow.
The functionality could work similarly to the Merge duplicate patron record functionality.
This would allow the user to select the source record bib number and the destination record bib number.Ideally, the function should:
-Include the option to transfer any attached records.
-Any item or bib level holds attached to the source bib should also be…25 votesSierra currently provides functionality to transfer attached records from one bibliographic record to another. Documentation for this feature is available online: Transferring Attached Records.

Item, Bib, & Patron Record Sets
Can Innovative please put the Record Set function into Sierra that is in Polaris. Record sets could be limited by admins by allowing catalogers to only have permission to Item Record Sets (for only their home library), MARC members can have permission to all three* types of record sets (item, bib, and patron*(?)), and circulation managers can have permission to only patron record sets. When I have to discard/withdraw 150 CDs from the collection I currently have to do it one at a time, but if Record Sets were available I could scan all 150 CDs into my Item Record…

Sierra 5.5 - Direct 'View Public Display' to Discovery Layer of Choice
It was mentioned during a session at IUG last week that the Sierra option to 'View Public Display' in 'Search Holds' can now be directed to the record's view in Vega Discover. It was also suggested that this can somehow be configured to more than one display option. For libraries that use other discovery layers (e.g. Bibliocommons) it would be very useful if we could set this display to that specific interface.
14 votesThe public display feature in the Sierra client can be configured to use various discovery systems as long as we can identify the correct URL to perform a search using the bibliographic record number. This capability is available in Sierra 5.5 and newer versions.
We recently set up a library to push the public display to the library's BiblioCore catalog and the library staff are happy with the results. If you use a different discovery system and would like to test this feature, please open a support ticket and provide us with the appropriate search syntax to perform a bibliographic record search into your library catalog.

Allow for automatic renewals when a hold is frozen
Allow for automatic renewals on items where the only holds on that item are frozen.
Idea Value
Currently if a hold is frozen, automatic renewals do not work because the hold on the item blocks renewal. This presents a problem because the hold is frozen and the patron does not want the item yet, forcing patrons to return items just to have them sit on the shelf. Allowing for automatic renewals when a hold is frozen will allow patrons to keep their items until the other patron wants them.71 votesSierra can automatically renew checked out items, even when they have frozen holds, provided there aren't other reasons why the automatic renewal is blocked (fees owed, item has reached maximum renewal limit, etc.).
Libraries having problems with automatic renewals should open a support ticket so that a support analyst can review your configuration and possibly some examples to explain if settings in the system need to be changed to use this feature.

Incorrect Image Displaying for DVDs and Music CDs
Incorrect images for DVDs and music CDs are displaying in Sierra because the UPC is being truncated, which creates an issue when it matches a book ISBN.
Idea Value
Staff use the images as guides for searching for an item on the shelf. It is their form of a finding aide.14 votesWe have reviewed the examples mentioned in this request and found that cover images based on UPC are already supported in Sierra 5.3 and newer versions.
If this feature is not working as expected, a support ticket should be submitted to Innovative and we will investigate. Any support ticket should include specific examples of the UPC number(s) in the bibliographic records and the titles of the cover images that are displaying in error.
