No Results - Customize Messaging/Offer Alternatives
When a patron gets no results and gets either the "did you mean?" or the search tips pages, would like a way to include some customized links to other options/services we offer, for example, our Interlibrary Loan and our Book Match services. Many patrons have no idea that if we don't own a title, we can get it for them via ILL. Or if they are just searching on a topic and not getting anything, perhaps our Book Match service may do the trick. Or just to tell users to speak with a reference librarian.

We have a "Find from Link+" link that appears to the right under "Save Search." It would be great to have the ability to make this link much larger and appear right in the middle under "0 results found". Right now, patrons are not noticing this link and do not always know that it is an option.

In the meantime, you can update the translation file, specifically:
"searchHintsTitle"
"useExactPhraseHint"
"checkYourSpellingHint"
"@ReduceNumberOfKeywordsHint"
"searchByDifferentIndexHint"

Yes, we agree that it is better to have some response rather than the wording that is there now! Perhaps even some instruction on how to improve search strategy... Customization is a GREAT idea! Thanks!

Yes. Also related, connecting a server like the Library of Congress. We have that setup in our Classic Catalog (Polaris PAC) and patrons were used to using that to request ILL's. We've had to direct patrons to the classic catalog for that functionality again.
