Search via shortcut codes
I have had a couple of libraries ask me about this:
will we be able to use the abbreviations from advanced search like in Encore in Vega? i.e. c:117 limits to my library, f:a. I use that all the time to help patrons and find resources quicker both in Sierra and Encore.
For further clarity:
Some libraries like to use the shortcut codes—once you know them, it’s faster and easier than using the facets to narrow down your search.
In her example, she’s using the Encore advanced search, limiting the format to books and to her collection. When you do the search, the search box shows you how Encore formatted the search using those shortcut codes and then you can duplicate that search string without having to use Advanced Search. (For example, f:a limits the search to format=books, the a is the material type in the bib record.)

For our libraries, in a consortium, I do think this is critical. We have trained our libraries for years how to use the shortcut codes:
b:xx (library's 2-letter location code)
c:*** (library's scope number) -

If shortcut codes are added to Vega Discover, can we have a how to and list of codes sent out to all the libraries? Honestly, it would make discoverability better when using the patron facing side of the catalog.
