Hold Cancelation Settings Enhancements
Add logic to Hold Cancelation Button so that:
1. Holds that cannot be canceled do not display a cancel hold button.
a. Particularly ILL type requests should be able to be configured to not allow cancelation button to display. Or to only allow until the ILL is shipped.
b. Expired holds should be able to be configured to not allow cancelation button to display.
c. An option should be available that causes all cancel buttons to be suppressed as well.
- Holds that can be canceled always display the Cancel button (some libraries allow trapped holds to be canceled and the button never displays for trapped holds today.)

In the course of trying to solve how an ILL had been cancelled before it even arrived, we learned that patrons have the ability to cancel them from their accounts. It would be nice to be able to customize the cancel button to not function for certain collections/ types of materials. ILLs take so much time and effort to obtain and process and it is frustrating that patrons can easily/accidentally cancel this.

We would also like the cancel button to only display when it will be successful.

Yes, it is just more added confusion for the patron. Especially the response that appears when it fails, Cancel Failed try again. Well the patron can try 5000 times it's never going to work.

Discover should mirror as many features available in our ILSs as possible. Without that, why bother using Discover if it's not as robust as our original PAC?

Hi Eliza. This is correct, we are on Polaris 7.5 and use Vega as our catalogue.

I'm wondering if this is an issue with a different LMS from us. We have Sierra and customers can cancel their holds when they're in transit or on the holdshelf for them.

Patrons don't often think about cancelling a hold until they have received a notice. By that time, it is already in transit or on the holds shelf. This is often when they want to cancel, but cannot. There is an idea listed about suppressing the Cancel option for items that cannot be cancelled. This would be a partial solution, but for our library, the true need is to allow patrons to cancel items that have already been trapped for them.

We do not let customers cancel holds in "held" status either, so suppressing the Cancel Hold button for this status would help avoid customer confusion.

Previously on the classic Polaris PAC patrons were able to cancel "active" INN-reach holds until those items had shipped. We would like that ability for patron management on Vega Discover as well.

We'd like the ability to suppress the cancel hold button from My Bookshelf. It's not possible for our patrons who place holds for interloans to cancel their holds for interloans from My Bookshelf. When they try to do so they retrieve a message in red text advising "!Requested resource was not found'. This is very confusing to our patrons. Suppressing the ability to do this would be very helpful, and would reduce patron confusion.
