Use library email addresses for email testing.

When testing the email workflow in LX Starter, the emails are currently sent from vega@iiivega.com. Instead, it would be better to send test emails from the actual email addresses configured for the library.

This would more fully validate the end-to-end email process and catch any issues before LX Starter is live, as reliable email delivery is critical.

Benefits:

  1. Tests the full email process from the library's email address
  2. Catches email issues before product launch
  3. Validates reliability of email workflow before sending emails to patrons.

Suggested Implementation:

  1. Update the LX Starter email test feature to send from the configured library email address rather than the vega@iiivega.com email address.
  2. Build in functionality to delete the test emails afterwards...

The key goal is to ensure a smooth, reliable email process for libraries launching on LX Starter.

    This would have saved us a lot of grief when we launched LX Starter. We had lots of configuration issues between our City email server and Amazon SES, resulting in many notifications being marked as spam by receiving email servers and never delivered. If we had had the ability to test instead of having to go live with real notices to patrons, we wouldn't have had the interruption in service to patrons.

    The issues also made our staff really pessimistic and cynical about LX Starter and Vega because that was their first experience with the platform. I told them how we were switching over to this great new service but what it did, from their perspective, was basically break email notices for a couple of months.

    This is vital. Our biggest issue with LX Starter has been message delivery, so being able to test the look of messages is less important than being able to test the delivery process.

    It makes sense to test the notices with library emails before sending out to all the patrons.
