Expresscheck- Different Barcode Scanning Sounds
Many of our patrons are on autopilot when checking out their materials at our expresschecks. There are times patrons while scanning, accidentally scan the wrong barcode (isbn barcode) rather than our libraries' created barcodes for checkout. Staff in our library system have requested there be a way to differentiate barcode scanning sounds of a normal checkout beep to some sort of indicator/sound letting the patron know something is wrong in the checkout process.

Destiny Discover by Follett - it's designed for schools specifically. The beeps were all similar and long. I changed the "good sound" to a single duck quack and the "alerts/bad sounds" were all longer animals that caught everyone's attention. I haven't tried it in Polaris - but it would be nice!

Oh my goodness, Brandee, hilarious a rooster was chosen!! By chance do you remember the software you used to adjust the scanning sounds? This could be the perfect workaround for our system.

In other software I was able to change the scanning sounds to different animal sounds - it made a HUGE difference! Patrons totally ignored all beeps but if the rooster crowed, they stopped and looked at what in the world was going on.
