We were told that in order to activate volume level requests in the PAC and in Vega, we would have to turn off the ability for item level requests to be placed, since it's an either or setting (see attached). However, we need to be able to offer our patrons both options. In the case of volume level requests, we can't have patrons getting a random volume that they might not even want when they place a title level hold. Since we also have patrons that use item level requesting, we can't just turn that off in favor of volume level requests. Therefore, we've been able to offer item level requests in the PAC as an option for both cases (picking a specific volume/item). However, now that we're using Vega, patrons can't place either volume level requests OR item level requests, since Vega doesn't allow item level requests even tho we have that setting enabled in Polaris. If we switch to volume level requests, then patrons lose the ability to place item level requests in the PAC. So we're between a rock and a hard place. We would like the system to allow both options. (We've already submitted a feature request for Vega to allow item level requests but have no idea if that will ever happen.)
