Disable fine lock
Because our library does not use fines, having the "Failed to acquire fines payment lock. If not cleared, fines payments cannot be processed" message is of no utility for us. We'd love multiple users to be able to view a patron record without this message showing up.

I agree with Jeremy - I would still like the message to appear but the wording is confusing to staff. Wording that another workstation has the patron record open would be more helpful than the "Fines Payment Lock" wording.

It sounds like the best option would be for this feature to be configurable, rather than universally applied to everyone. Then non-circulating/non-fining libraries could switch if off if they prefer.

I understand the annoyance here when you don't use fines, but there are other issues that can occur as well from having a patron record open on multiple workstations.
For a sadly common example among our libraries, if a patron checks out an item at one location, changes their mind, and has it checked back in at another terminal, if the account remained open on the original workstation the checkin will fail to occur without providing much of an indicator of that. In that case the patron now has an item checked out erroneously, and Sierra has incorrect data on where that item is currently located. Because of cases like this I would still want there to be a warning that the patron record needs to be closed, regardless of the fines issue.

Yes please - our library also doesn't use fines and would really appreciate multiple users being able to view a patron record without the pop-up appearing.
