Option to display a call# per title in the roll up where there is one available
We have our call#s in the item records and each Branch library uses the same call#. Patrons and staff are struggling to find the call#s and want them displayed in the results list for every title where available. It is time consuming to do the extra clicks to view a call number!
Completed with the "Show first available call number if no other call number is displayed" Display setting.

I tried to search the catalog by call number. How do we use this new update?
I also agree with other people one of the biggest issues/ confusions with patrons is having to click into a record. I want to see the call number right next to the library location.

I was shocked when I learned that I had to click the branch name to show the call number. I understand that different locations in a consortium might have a different call number for a book, but if this is the case then please go back to the way that Encore showed the call numbers for locations and make a column of locations. This really seems like someone chose a fancy UX design with a fancy red X or green checkmark over ease of use.
Today's users expect to be able to open a page and be able to just 'use it'. If we have to train our patrons on how to navigate our catalogue then it's a failed design.

Our patrons are very concerned about this as well. We have to report back to our advisory board on this. Is there a time frame for when smarter call number display will be implemented?

I have to vent after getting brushed off when I brought this up on the 5/18 strategic partner call.
Whether or not an item is on the shelf, patrons want to know where to look for either the specific title they found or browse other similar materials. Browsability is a long-standing principle of libraries.
While you can get to the call number by clicking on the branch in the display (to open the "drawer"), why are we making users click at all? We don't hide the title or the author. Why are we hiding the call number, which is also a basic/key element of our materials?
There is also just a general inconsistency of when you do/do not see the call number, that I think makes it confusing for staff and patrons:
• The kiosk option (keep in mind a patron has no idea what kiosk sites are and won't have the same experience at home) -- if the title is not on the shelf at the kiosk site, no call number displays.
• Being signed in to Vega – if the title is not available at your HOME library (which some patrons don't always know or have moved), no call number displays.
I think the above is absolutely bananas! It's hard enough for me to remember why a call number displays or doesn’t. I don't think we should expect staff/patrons to. We don’t require extra steps to see the author or the title, so why for the call number? -

This is an issue that most baffles the infrequent user. Selecting the location has not been intuitive. It will be most helpful to display the call number for each item in the tabbed rollup.

Number one complaint from staff and patrons. Must click on the location (which makes no sense if they are in person using a public catalog) to see the location. Tried the kiosk mode and that didn't work either (if item was checked out/not available at the kiosk location, you still don't get the info. until you click on the location link). People sometimes just want to find all of the books on Thailand or whatever, want to browse a section and Vega has made that more difficult.
