Permanent Links
Permanent link to Vega records. When records are changed, the Vega ID changes and thus the link changes resulting in broken links. Please create permanent links for Vega records that aren't affected by changes to the item or bib records in Polaris.

This seems like a pretty basic best practice for search sites and I'm surprised it's not already incorporated.
If this is something that can't be changed for a while, there should be documentation of what triggers changes to a Discover link so that staff can have a sense of how long a link is likely to stay valid for. Ex. I might email a patron a link in response to an email reference question, since the link is likely to remain good for at least a few days, but I might not make a create a quarterly newsletter segment of book recommendations that uses Discover links (since maybe due to how my library does record updates, our links tend to change every few weeks).

Permanent links are important for reference librarians, but critical for trouble-shooting.
We need to be able to be able to duplicate what someone else is describing -

We add the links to online bibliographies which go to all of the schools and patrons who ask for biliographies. We need permanent links in order to advertise our items.
