E-Source Targets in Vega
I am requesting the development of a dedicated e-source target module in Vega to fully replace and improve upon the e-source linking functionality currently offered in Polaris and PowerPAC. To offer comprehensive e-source target capabilities in Vega that meet both current needs and future potential, I propose the following:
Replicate Existing Polaris/PowerPAC Functionality
- Add, edit, organize targets in Vega Admin
- Set access restrictions and authentication parameters
- Enable/disable link accessibility for in-house and remote users
- Block access by patron code and IP address
- Pass authentication data to target on click-through
- Display links in Vega Discover interface
Proposed Enhancements
- Configurable e-source target organization for both public and staff views.
- Staff "notes" section for technical details, like vendor contact info, authentication type, etc.
- Add related links for group display for things like tips, tutorials, getting started.
- Ability to schedule both e-source launch and retirement dates.
- Change tracking, notes, and version history.
- Ability to include vendor logos and icons for use with group display.
- Usage stats dashboard with analytics and alerts
- Bulk editing for streamlined configuration and organization, like drag and drop or multi-select.
- Administrative dashboard for centralized management, with ability to produce a read-only link that can be used for sharing stats inside and outside the library system, with optional link expiration dates.
- Enhanced authentication protocol support, like vendor API, Referring URL, etc...
This approach ensures Vega first delivers existing capabilities that libraries rely on, while also allowing for future expansion to simplify administration and improve discovery. Please consider this request covering both replication of current functionality as well as proposed added features.

This is a must have for us!

This is critical for our library. It would allow us to begin the process of closing down the classic catalog.

All this is really good. It would be very helpful to have internal notes with each of the resources. It would help with support between the library and the vendor.
