  1. After testing a few call number searches, we are realizing that this feature would work best if there were an index for call number searching, to prevent erroneous results from appearing in the list. For example, if I want to search JUST Dewey call numbers of 300, I don't want to retrieve the movie with the title "300". Also, for our world language materials, we use call numbers to distinguish between Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese, and we are getting a lot of additional results with the keywords "Traditional" and "Chinese" in the bib. records. We want to be able…

  2. We would like to see a new format of "Graphic Novel" which would not roll up with other books that have the same title and author. It could use the fixed fields in the MARC record when the 008 is for books with a 6 in "Nature of contents" (positions 24-27). This would help prevent us from having to add our own manufactured subtitles just to get certain graphic novels to stop rolling up with the book version.

  3. REQUEST: Ideally suppression rules would be the same as currently followed in the ILS (Sierra and Polaris) along with requesting parameters. Would help with reference only collections that can't be checked out/removed from building but say 'checked in'

  5. Most patrons probably don't add apostrophes when searching (some do, some don't). We suggest it be taken out as a variable effecting the search results in basic search. In advanced search it can be included exactly as typed, but for the basic search it may do more harm than good. Please see the attached examples.

  6. Since the MARC to BIBFRAME conversion doesn't convert every tag, Staff would like the ability to view MARC from Discover

  8. Add contributors, such as translator, illustrator or foreword author to the edition bib-frame info "i" window to better distinguish between different editions of a title. Most people are likely looking for contributors when choosing between editions.

  9. The little “sprite” helper icon is cute, but the text she brings up to help the patron find call numbers includes the sentence “Click the map to find it at the library." and there isn't a way to edit or remove this text.

  10. We need to be able to search by song title when searching for music cds or for sheet music books.
It also its hard not be able to see the track listing for compilation albums (the Now cds for instance).
We have patrons complain about this weekly.

  11. Currently, in the translation file there's one spot to edit ALL Place hold buttons. This prevents us from, say, editing the button that applied to ALL editions to say perhaps "Place hold on any edition" and, perhaps, editing the edition specific button to say "Place hold on this edition". We would like these separated out for editing.

  12. Magazines borrowed directly from Overdrive show the confusing resource for title result instead of the magazine issue itself. An extra step of Get Issue is required to show the issue. This appears to be covered under the Vega Product portal - Overdrive Magazines. However that is listed under the Later category. Monarch is asking if this could be expedited due to the confusion it is causing to staff and patrons.

  13. I still feel this is sort of a bug, but I'm going to try submitting an idea.

When logged in: You can click on any link in "My Bookshelf" to expand it, but you can only collapse it by clicking either the down arrow or the "My Bookshelf" tab. When on another tab such as "Bookmarks, Saved Searches, or Reading History", I feel that clicking on these tabs should also collapse the My Bookshelf back to the bottom.

When not logged in: Clicking any link in the "My Bookshelf" will expand it but clicking "My Bookshelf" no longer collapses it…

  14. Most OverDrive titles beginning with an article (The, A, An) do not rollup properly due to Metadata not identifying a skip on these characters. As a main feature of Discover, it is frustrating that such a large amount of titles do not rollup with properly cataloged physical materials.

We have turned on Swedish for Syndetics Unbound. If your library has a language that Syndetics supports the default translations will appear when you change the language in discover. You can supplement and alter these in the syndetics admin. Reach out to support for help and access if needed!

  17. This is a combination of 2 ideas: Patrons would like to share lists they've created, and some patrons like to "Follow" others. We could create a new world of library "influencers" such as what is on social media, by having "Library Influencers" - those with over x number of followers. Patrons could select who they want to follow, and lists could be shared over social platforms.

  18. StackMap is an indoor mapping web application that helps patrons easily locate library resources including material, subjects wayfinding, rooms and public PCs in real-time. At this time, VEGA does not seem to support this application, but it does work in the default Polaris catalog.

Vega Discover Premium and Consortia versions support an integration with StackMap, an indoor mapping web application that helps patrons easily locate library resources.

Vega Discover Premium and Consortia libraries can reach out to support@stackmap.com to request the required script to embed into their custom header code.

Please reach out to your Account Manager if you would like to know more about Discover Premium or Discover Consortia.

  19. At present, we employ code adjustments in our customized header to reduce padding/spacing across Vega Discover's homepage. It would be highly beneficial if there were built-in options within Vega Homepage themes or experience settings to directly control and minimize this spacing. For reference, I've attached a screenshot showcasing our customized control with yellow highlights compared to the default spacing highlighted in magenta.

  20. The events component on the homepage currently does not automatically arrange events in chronological order. Additionally, there is no option for manual reordering, and modifying the sequence necessitates deleting preceding events to position a new item ahead of another.

    COMPLETED  ·  Angela Nolet responded

Updates were made that allow events to be re-ordered manually.

Libraries with Vega Program integration can set Dynamic events rows that update automatically and are in chronological order.
