Many of our popular items like board games only have a UPC

I acknowledge that this is not really the same as the idea post above, but it is somewhat related. It would be really nice if somehow libraries could supply an alternate image source for items like science kits or equipment like Rokus.

It would also be nice if the default image did not show a book for other item types.

Cover art should take advantage of all the features Syndetics Unbound offers including looking up DVDs by UPC. It should also make use of the multiple material type icons available for the different item types instead of using one default book icon for anything that does not find a cover match. It is confusing to the patron.

DVDs, Blu-rays, etc. rarely have an ISBN and almost always use the UPC number as their primary identifier. I second the comment that this addition is necessary to utilize the features of the LX Starter notices.

Yes, for us 31% of our physical circ is DVDs, Blu-rays, and Console Games, for which Syndetics can typically pull cover images successfully for our catalog using their UPCs.

The primary appeal of LX Starter is notices that are more visually appealing and clearer to patrons about what items are being referred to. The cover art is a key component of that. Considering that something like 15-20% of our physical circulation is DVDs/BluRays, not having this feature really brings down the 'success rate' of the new notices.

If LX Starter isn't already working on this, I'd like DVD cover art to populate using either ISBN or UPC.
I'm told that DVD cover art will only populate if the DVD includes an ISBN in the library's catalog (though that feature is currently also not working.) But I've been told by my Technical Services manager that this information can also populate if there's a UPC in the catalog.
